I believe that certificate of completion for a course, or training, represents the beginning of the real learning journey that may involve hours of practice, successes, failures, lessons learned and evolution. That's why I decided to share the decalogue I created to express the why's I found behind of each one of the scrum pillars:
TRANSPARENCY as a chance to make sure we are not acting with FEAR but acting with FAITH enough to believe that sharing our work, ideas and thoughts may help us to build better products:
- We are fine sharing product increments, because we may get feedback and gather new/fresh perspectives.
- We are fine providing others the visibility about the list of activities we have in our bucket; we know that it helps us to keep aligned our work and customer expectations.
- We are fine asking others for help when we are facing blockers or issues, because we know that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but of strength.?
- We are fine determining and following a common criterion that will indicate if the work is completed or not, we know that it helps us to reduce the ambiguity when we declare an activity as completed.
- We are fine expressing and sharing with everybody what we really think, and how we feel, because we know that it may increase our own empathy and cohesion as a team.
- We are fine sharing our curiosity about processes, products, projects, or people, because we know that curiosity is key to get more understanding and to imagine new possibilities.
INSPECTION is part of the way to make sure we are meeting the expectations, but also it is an opportunity to gain others trust:
- We are fine sharing our product increments because we want to make sure that we are adding value to the customer.
- We are fine sharing our product increments, because we know that it is the chance to have conversations about future possibilities.
- We are fine reflecting the way we worked in last sprint, identifying improvement areas, and defining goals because we are convinced that next time, we can make it better.
ADAPTION as a chance to showcase our willingness to the change:
- We are willing to embrace the change by reviewing, analyzing and making the changes required in our work to re-direct our efforts to the right direction.
I would be happy to know if you are considering any other why's that must be add to this list.
