Tip: Use more than one camera.??
In our last LinkedIn newsletter, we talked about increasing the production quality for your virtual and hybrid events by having quality cameras. Today, we want to share why you should always have 2 or more cameras to create a more engaging and polished look.
We’ve all seen the static single-camera look. It’s boring and there is actually some science behind eye fatigue that accompanies this approach. Having two or more cameras allows you to switch between shots to keep the viewers’ attention.
In action movies, directors cut between shots every 2 to 3 seconds. Documentaries have a longer shot length of 12 to 15 seconds. Reference:?https://stephenfollows.com/many-shots-average-movie/
We’re not suggesting you need 20 cameras, but the more you have the more engaging you can make your production or live stream. Also, don’t forget your presentation computer counts as one of your cameras.
So how do you employ multiple cameras and stay on budget? Obviously, you have to have the cameras, but the key is having a video switcher. vLink uses Blackmagic Design ATEM video switchers. We have over 20 of them in various models.?The entry-level switcher is available for $195 at online retailers everywhere.
