Why Your Speaker Website is NEVER Done…
Do You Have the Right Website Mentality for Success?

Why Your Speaker Website is NEVER Done…

It’s Rachael Kraft , your SpeakingGigs.pro Editor-in-Chief.

This week, Andrew and I wanted to share why your speaker website is NEVER actually done.

Ugh… never done…??

As someone who loves to check off boxes, I can understand how this idea can make your skin crawl.? It’s much more satisfying to know that you can put your energy and resources towards a project, make it amazing, and then move on.

But, when it comes to your website, this mentality can actually do your speaking business a huge disservice.

To start, let’s look at the two mentalities most speakers hold when it comes to their website.

?? The ‘Set it and forget it’ Mentality - With this thought process, your site is finished and then just sits there… for a long time - with possibly outdated content, antiquated clips of your speeches, and stale versions of your session description that no longer represent the true experience you offer your audiences.

?? The ‘Never Done’ Mentality - When it comes to your speaker website, the ‘never done’ mentality is actually the PERFECT mindset to help you earn more gigs and generate more revenue. Your site will IMPROVE over time as you continuously identify new ways to strengthen the user experience and content you share.

Here are three steps to get you started with your ‘never done’ website:?

??? 1) To start, set aside some time on your calendar each month to do some general maintenance.? Update photos, tweak descriptions, and make sure your site stays up-to-date.

??? 2) Get your team involved.? Andrew has multiple people on his team who can help make these updates on a regular basis.? So, if you have someone like a personal assistant, get them involved with these regular updates to be more efficient.

??? 3) Eat the elephant. (I know.? Gross) The old saying goes, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!”? Rebuilding your website can be an overwhelming task, but if you think of the process as a series of much smaller tasks, it makes it easier to tackle.

Use a ‘website audit’ to clearly identify key features on your site that need improvement.

28-Point Audit & How Does Your Speaking Website Measure Up?

“Audit” isn’t exactly a nice word.??

In fact, it probably brings to mind taxes and the IRS.??

(Yikes!)

But, today, we’re going to dive into how you can use a ‘website audit’ to clearly identify key features on your site that need improvement over the coming months.

It’s all part of the ‘never done’ mentality you’ll need to build and maintain a winning professional speaker website.

To get started, here are 5 key things to check on your website….

??? 1) Call-to-Action: A clear CTA tells the visitor exactly what you want them to do.

For most speakers, this CTA button should be located very prominently on your site with instructions to “put a date on hold.”?

???? 2) Video: Multiple examples of professional looking video demonstrates your skill and reliability as a speaker.

???? 3) Event Calendar: This shows visitors that you’re credible and gives a sense of your demand which influences your perceived value.

??? 4) Social Proof: Display testimonials from event organizers and attendees to show how much your audience loves your speech.

??? 5) Graphics Best Practices: Graphics should be optimized for fast load speed and readability.

Many speakers make a mistake when it comes to choosing the right size image to upload to their website.??
