Imagine this for a second…
You decide you want to compete in a golf tournament next week.
In preparation, you go to the store and you purchase a set of the most premium golf clubs on the market. These clubs have received 5-star reviews from the top experts in golf equipment. They have also been used by the top-ranked professional golfers in the world to win many championship tournaments and are strongly considered the best clubs available on the market.
You are very excited and confident.
But… Here’s the thing…
You have never played golf before… and you have no idea how to even swing a golf club.
How do you think you’re going to perform in the tournament next week?
Probably not very well, right?
Having the best tools on the market doesn’t guarantee you will succeed.
You need to use the tools effectively to "max out" what they are capable of.
This principle applies everywhere… especially in marketing.
Recently, I’ve been approached by dozens of entrepreneurs – coaches, consultants, experts, and other service business owners -- who have been trying to use LinkedIn to scale their business, but haven't seen much success.
They’ve heard LinkedIn is the best platform to reach business owners and decision-makers.
And they’ve heard people are using LinkedIn to reach the multiple 6-Figure, and even 7-Figure level in their business.
But, despite trying their best to reach out to prospective clients, they just can’t seem to get quality responses and book sales appointments consistently or at scale.
Usually, there are several reasons why...
But most often the problem is the Messaging on their profile and being sent via direct outreach to prospects.
More specifically, it often comes down to...
Failure to craft Messaging that connects with prospects on a deep, meaningful level, and taps into their "Emotional Triggers"
This is important because "emotional triggers" pull our prospects' attention, which is where every single engagement in business starts.
As people, we listen and focus when we FEEL something.
So it's important to know what feelings and emotions our prospects might have.
Some of them may be...
- Frustration about their current situation
- Empathy for others who have been through the same thing
- Confusion about how to get to their desired future
- Joy that comes from having achieved their dreams
- Envy of others who have what they want
- Excitement that comes from experiencing something new
And there are a lot more.
LinkedIn is an amazing tool... But understanding the emotions your prospects have and being able to craft messaging that speak to them effectively can "make or break" your success using the platform to scale your business.
It can be the difference between 20 highly qualified sales appointments per week a wide open calendar.
Dan Pe?a, “The 50 Billion Dollar Man” said...
“LinkedIn is the greatest social media marketing tool ever devised.”
And he was right…
The “Gate of Entry” is gone now and we can reach decision-makers in any industry, at scale, any time we want to.
But as powerful as LinkedIn can be – just like those golf clubs – it needs to be used effectively to get the results it’s capable of.
LinkedIn is essentially a vehicle to put your Messaging in front of the right audience.
But it has to be the RIGHT messaging.
Reaching your prospects is EASY. But if your messaging is weak and doesn’t connect with your prospects… it’s like filling up a car’s gas tank with orange juice.
It won’t get you anywhere.
So, let me leave you with a point that I always repeat to my clients…
LinkedIn can be an absolute game-changer for your business… but only if you remember why, and how to make it so.
