Guess what? It's time to stir the pot again. ?? This month, we're diving headfirst into the murky waters of health myths. Because, let's face it, there's more BS in health advice these days than in a barnyard. Let's get real about rethinking food and changing our health trajectory, shall we?
Demystifying 'Healthy' Choices
Ever stared at a "superfood" label and wondered if it's just a fancy way to say "expensive snack"? ?? Can I be honest with you? We spend way too much dang time and money, reading labels and you know what? Your body could care less about labels. It's all about what it can do with what we put into it. And if you've lost the ability to metabolize certain foods, it's time to rethink those foods, no matter what the labels say.
Rethink This:
Here's a brain tickler for you: If your body has lost the ability to metabolize certain types of food or drink, does it really matter if the marketing messages tell us there are "good" and "bad" versions of that food or drink? Let's reframe this a bit shall we? Imagine you are an alcoholic. Or maybe your son has a peanut allergy. Do you spend time looking for "good" and "bad" alcoholic drinks? Would you read through the labels of peanut butter and wonder if creamy or crunchy is "good" or "bad"? I'm making a big assumption here, but I'm guessin', the answer, in both situations is a big ole "NO".
?? This month, take a moment to think about one food item you've been dubbing as "healthy" and ask yourself, "Is this helping my body, or is it just health noise?"
Fruit Juice Myth??
Meet "Alex," who thought fruit juices were his ticket to health, only to learn that his "healthy" glass of Orange Juice each morning had about as much sugar as a similar sized glass of coke. ?? So how much sugar you ask?

Again, your body doesn't read labels. It's job is to convert whatever you put in it into something that will help you stay alive. Understanding his body's response to food was a game changer for Alex and his body is starting to heal from the inside out.

While Alex didn't originally reach out to me to lose weight (it wasn't his main focus anyway, he wanted to get off Metformin and control his blood pressure without taking amlodipine) he's lost some weight anyway. How?
