You're an Expert? Take the Center Stage in AI

In the world of AI advancements and tech announcements—it's easy to forget something vital. Yet, there's an under-the-radar shift happening. It’s all about translating expertise into into actionable AI tasks and content.

Let's be Real

Most people don't enjoy crafting prompts. It's a grind. It takes time, effort, and deep knowledge of what you're aiming to achieve with the model.

Your Expertise is the New Asset

And here’s the point that's often overlooked: Your expertise in your field turns into your unique selling proposition. Crafting an effective prompt isn't simply about posing a question to AI. It's about accomplishing a task the way you as a subject-matter expert want it.

For Instance:

- if you’re a copywriter, you’ll excel in content creation prompts.

- if you’re in sales, you’ll nail sales-oriented prompts.

Why it Matters

In my experience, as AI continues to evolve, knowing what you want won't become obsolete. In fact, your ability to articulate nuanced instructions as an expert will be even more crucial.

How to Prepare Yourself for AI

Based on my own hands-on experience, there are two indispensable roles you need to leverage AI effectively. The dynamic lies in your inclination: Are you the expert, the translator, or a bit of both?

Two Building Blocks

So, what do you need to make AI work for you? There are two roles:

1. Be The Expert

First up, you need to be the expert in your field. You've got to have strong opinions and clear directions. AI's good, but it's not a mind reader.

2. Speak AI

Next, learn how to translate your expertise into AI language. This could be anything from designing a nifty prompt to fine-tuning a complex model. It's not just what you know, but how you instruct the AI to know it too.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Now, who’s gonna have these skills? Maybe it's one person wearing both hats, or perhaps it's a tag-team scenario. One brings the business know-how; the other knows how to make AI deliver. Either way, this combo is what's going to define the future of businesses in an AI-driven world, in my book.

It's Time to Roll Up Those Expert Sleeves

I believe that the best approach to make as much of AI as possible is to start and start now.

This means don’t leave this to task forces or research groups or IT departments alone.

You are in marketing - experiment with AI. You are in business development - experiment with AI. You are in sales - experiment with AI... and so on.

So, here's what I'm doing: I'm making AI work for me, not the other way around. It helps me make better decisions. I still need to constantly learn and adapt.
