Currently sat in Starbucks, sipping on… a black coffee. I
know, shocking! If you know me, you know I love my morning oat cappuccino, but I’ve had to swap it out.
Why? Because I’m cutting calories.
Since moving to Saudi, my daily calorie burn has plummeted. Back in London, I averaged 45-55k steps a day just from my daily routine Here? I’m clocking 10-12k – and that’s with extra effort to get my steps in! Less walking, more sitting in cars… it all adds up.
You see, it’s not just in the gym where we burn calories;?most?of our calories actually come from our daily activity. On average, 10k steps burns about 400 calories, so right now, I’m burning roughly 1,600 fewer calories every day. That’s a fair amount!
So what does that mean? It means I’ve got to adjust what I’m eating to match this new lifestyle – otherwise, I’d be packing on extra fat in no time! Here’s what I’m doing:
Most people focus on calories burned in the gym, and when they suddenly become less active in daily life, they’re left wondering why the scale’s moving up.
Here’s the takeaway:?your health and fitness isn't just about what happens in the gym. It's in all parts of your life.?When your lifestyle changes, your nutrition and activity levels need to adjust too!
Until next time
