Is THIS why your business model is broken?

Is THIS why your business model is broken?

Last year, I took a psychometric test called Kolbe-A.

It’s like a personality test, but aimed at the business world.

On the test, I scored a 9 on the “Quick Start” scale.

That’s about as high as it gets.

Being high on Quick Start means I have an extreme bias towards taking action.

This can be a great personality trait for an entrepreneur –?take action and get s*** done!

Thanks to this bias, I’ve successfully started many businesses.

But there’s a risk…

As a Quick Start, if you’re not careful, you can rush into things without thinking them through.

No time to do any research, just get started, dammit!

Here’s the danger:

If you don’t take the time to slow down and research, you end up trying to reinvent the wheel.

This makes things harder than they need to be.

You risk spending months, or even years, slaving away on something that you could've figured out with the minimum of research.

I see this happen all the time with newer entrepreneurs:

“I’ve built a business… I’m making money… but I can’t figure out the next step!”

Usually, they’re working in isolation…

Hustling hard…

Spending years stuck – trying to reinvent the wheel.

Most entrepreneurs think their business is different. Unique challenges that only their business has. Needing a “one-of-a-kind” business model to be able to scale.

But that’s nonsense.

They just haven’t opened their eyes and looked around enough!

If they just slowed down and researched other businesses, they’d discover:

A small number of simple, powerful and highly predictable business models that power most successful online education businesses.

There’s no big secret here.

Most big businesses have pretty simple business models.

In fact, the bigger the business, the simpler the model.

Namaste,

Thanks Olly. It feels like there is a Part Two to this post. Is there one coming or was it an invitation to do some research?
