Why are you a Writer?
Anyone who has written for any amount of time would attest that writing is tough. In every stage of writing, you face obstacles. There must be a force to keep you going.
So what do we call it? It is a burning desire to write that inspires you to write.
As Fay Weldon says,
"All a writer needs is a pencil, a piece of paper, a corner, nobody noticing, and the desire to do it. That's all it takes." - Fay Weldon
Your experiences, courage to withstand rejections, boldness to accept unusual ideas, stamina to stick to your writing, finding your voice from the shapeless thoughts, and never ceasing to learn and observe—you owe all of it to your appetite for writing.
It is the desire that asks you to write on bad writing days—the desire asking you to do something to get rid of the writer's block—the desire asking you to bear one rejection and the other but not relinquish writing.
This is the desire that illuminates your writing.
Unlike many other interests, the desire to write doesn't fade away with age.
All writers resonate with their writing drive. Whether they do remarkable literary work or write now and then, they are triggered; this desire triggers them.?
So, your desire helps you not only in writing but also in better writing. It asks you to be observant of whatever happens around you.
You do it, even when it isn't easy. It can be challenging to keep your mind engaged. But you still carry it out. Right?
Desire demands that of you. So,
Now, you can learn everything there is to know about writing, though. But who would instill this desire in you?
For example, if you do not want to read a specific genre, who will come to your aid? Nobody except you.
So the question is, how do you fuel your desire??
Life can ask you to write, force you to write, and teach you how to write, but it will never take away your desire to write.
On the other hand, nothing can compel you to write if you do not want to write. But if you desire to write, your desire will energize you and allow you to fuel it.
The only person who can help is you. If you have this desire, appreciation, more writing, better writing, and rewards will multiply it.
As Desiderius Erasmus says,
"The desire to write grows with writing."?
The good news is that you are a writer if you have this desire. It will help you become a better writer. This book is all about helping you develop this desire and take it in a secure direction.
