Why you are not Steve Jobs
Have you met Steve Jobs ?
Probably not, neither have I. I've read about him, extensively...read his book, biography, watched his move etc etc. You might have too..
In fact, I am pretty sure you know about him as intimately as I do. Let me ask you this question:
Did someone you work (or worked) with remind you of the late Steve jobs ?
Chances are that person was an imposter - let me explain...
The movement against racism that got started, doesn’t just affect people of color, it affects us all, everyone who has had to face discrimination, domination or put up with injustice, regardless of race, color, gender, place of birth, the way they look, act, talk, appear or feel..it has affected everyone - somewhere for sure.
For me, I hate the wanna be Steve Jobs's, I’ve met a few of these idiots..who think they are reincarnated Steve Jobs. It's so bad now, that I can "Smell" them from afar..okay am exaggerating, but you know what i mean..
These Wannabe's - They think that just by copying his negative demeanor and focussing on his negative traits - they can become like him. WRONG!! - If you are acting like you are a re-incarnation of Steve jobs - Here is what people really think of you..
Steve Jobs was great, but you are NOT Steve Jobs…get it ?
Steve jobs was a visionary, you are just a pretender, trying to be tough like him, trying to create a legacy in his shadow, a shadow that is half baked..why? You didn’t invent anything that the whole world is using. All you are, is just a toy…no matter how much success you've had, its nothing compared to Steve Jobs, so you are - a wannabe, in mine and everyone else's opinion that ever worked for you.
If you are a boss at a company & you try to push your team to the extreme, & you fancy that you are Steve jobs, nope - you are just in fantasy land. Guess what- no one thinks of you as a visionary, you know why, because you are an employee like everyone else, just a little bit more paid than the others but in the end, a bigger idiot
Why ? - because - If you were smart, you’d go out on your own, but you choose to stay, you are here because you are chained and stuck and don't have the guts to strike it out on your own, try it and then you’ll know what you are.
Steve Jobs was a visionary, he stuck it out on his own, he wasn’t a stooge at a job. He wasn't paid to manage and act like someone. If you are Steve jobs, strike it out of a job, create a team, go get clients, dream up something so great that can create a world changing product, manage a team, pay your people much more than anyone, then learn to handle the overheads that come with a real business and after that you can act like Steve. Otherwise, you are a nobody.
You are an imposter, if you think that setting impossible expectations, putting people to timeless tasks and wasting peoples time with your trash talk is going to make them work harder.
If using the 4 letter word is part of your pushy methodology & a way to get the best out of people..you know what everyone else was saying…?? You bet, they were thinking about your whole existence…your genealogy probably
Wozniak asked this question to Steve - What do YOU do ? - Steve said, I play the orchestra..you can’t even say that, you know why? You are a stooge playing the orchestra for someone else..in-fact you are playing puppet orchestra
You are a stooge handled by a bigger puppet, that other puppet just has a string tied to your already puppet hands and feet, when that other string is pulled, you move & when that big toy is tossed into the trash can, guess what happens to you? You get tossed, tossed out of that same land that you thought you were ruling..and guess what, the trash can is full so you end up elsewhere..
Now, your team, they are still there, working away, looking upto another Steve jobs wanna be, but you know what, they are actually enjoying it & actually laughing, at you & laughing at the new "Steve Jobs" Wannabe, they know what comes next..
To all the Steve Jobs Wanna be’s out there, - cut it out, Steve Jobs was a visionary, a once in a million years man. There may be more like him or not, no one knows, but if you think you are like him, you are just a copy. A bad one...
Steve jobs was an individual, a pioneer in every respect, he had his faults, he had his issues but what he had was courage. Courage & audacity to be who he really was.
Do you have that audacity ? Do you have that courage ? If not, your time is over. Either go out there, invent something, make a name for yourself without having a company standing behind you & after you do that, maybe, just maybe you can try to behave like him.
So, unless you've lay'ed of 3000 people, turned around a product after killing 70% of its functionality, been fired from a company that you created and created a product that the original company had to buy from you and then you fired the entire board..you are nowhere near to steve jobs..
Think of not just his achievements but his suffering, think of all the other things that went into his life. Are you prepared to accept everything that he endured ? Are you prepared to leave your family after being literally the only one in history to have done all this for nothing ? With all that money and fortune, he still died a death that is not normal, a disease that affects millions of people - people just like you and me- If you cannot go accept all his trials, you are not Steve jobs.
You are you, a human, just like everyone else on this earth. You have limited time, limited resources and limited amount of laughter, sadness, limited time with your loved ones and limited breath. Use it to make people happy, use it for the real betterment for others and for yourself. It will help you lead a better life than you have.
Unless you are ready to be Steve Jobs in all aspects of life & death, learn to respect people for who they are, for what they are. People are struggling in life, trying to make ends meet, trying to help others in their life.
Remember, everyone is going through a struggle, accept your own struggle, don't make your struggle an excuse to make others struggle. Make it easy for others knowing that it's not been easy for you, you'll be more happy than you've ever been.
Get off that high chair, look beyond race, color, origin, accent, method. Your soul will thank you for it.
So, if you are a manager or director or you have people who you are responsible for, remember, they DON'T work FOR YOU. They work for the company that YOU work for too.
Treat them like real genuine people, they are a team but they are not resources that are expendable, they have families, they have people who depend on them and look up to them, as brothers, husbands, wives, sisters, children, parents, partners etc etc..be kind to them.
Being kind doesn't cost you anything.
Stop for a minute and think : "What can you, as a person who has the responsibility for other people - people, that depend on you - can do, to make their lives better " ?
If you can do that, even Steve Jobs will look up to you from the heavens.
