Why You Shouldn't Ignore the Little Things! ??

As I splashed my face with cold water in the office restroom, I noticed a well-dressed guy rush in and occupy a toilet. Within seconds he ejected and as he was leaving, he bumped into our President. Without so much as bat an eye-lid, the guy walked off.
I watched our President enter the same toilet that the guy had just used. The door did not close and he came out without using it. Nodding his head in annoyance, the President murmured - "Why couldn't this chap flush?"
I nodded back, not knowing what to say as we both walked out. The next thing I see is, the same guy sitting with his CV outside the President's office - waiting for an interview.??
Bottom-line, the guy did not get the job he came to interview for. #Karma has no menu, ultimately you get served what you deserve - right?
Now, I wonder how much of the President's decision to not hire this chap depended on his not flushing the toilet after use.
Little things have the potential to create giant ripples. If we ignore to pay heed, they can come back to bite us big-time.
In the background of the LI #LetsGetHonest campaign, I share #7 Little Things which we all must mentally check-off right now ? ...
#1. Greet People - Greeting people, even if you don't know them, is the first step to know people and it definitely goes a long way in building great relationships in life.
?? A quick hello is the Swiss Army knife of networking!
#2. Smile - There has never been a more instant and effective ice-breaker in any setting than a warm, genuine smile.
Smiles connect people, build consensus and resolve differences, all within a span of 5 seconds or less.
?? Say cheese now! ??
#3. Act Human - How many of us use words like 'thanks' or 'please?' Do we feel genuinely happy listening to a good news at work or stand-up to pat a grieving colleague who just lost a loved one?
?? Can 'Human Beings' now start 'Being Human?'
#4. Don't Interrupt - The second worst thing while communicating with someone is to interrupt them as they speak.
?? The worst is to speak while they're still speaking!
#5. Respect Personal Spaces - Do you find it unsettling when a colleague is caught staring at your screen with a cheesy smile? Or when somebody hovers too close to you at work? 100%!
?? Please mind the gap!
#6. Grooming - Our team once had a colleague whom the boss never wanted in team meetings. Reason - He smelled of Jasmine and Spices. Personal grooming and hygiene are so basic, right?
?? Shower up before you Show-up!
#7. Housekeeping - Imagine walking to the office pantry and finding your colleague's leftover on the table. Not pleasant, right? Always clean-up common office spaces after use - the pantry, the restroom or the meeting hall!
?? Keeping the house in order is not just the janitor's job!
What #LittleThings bother you and can be added to this #list ? ??
