Why you Should Work in a Non-Profit Organization
In this week’s class, my professor interviewed Greta Moncayo, who is a Donor Relations Representative for Way FM. Way FM is a non-profit radio station that focuses on Christian content and providing Hope. Greta speaks about the importance of non-profit organizations and the amazing experience that comes with working in one. She talks about how in her career not only does she get to achieve success, but as well as helping others in her community. She also speaks about how success should not be defined as perfectionism, because perfectionism can lead to complacency. She defines success as doing your best and striving to better yourself every day. Greta also goes on talking about WAY FM and how becoming a part of this non-profit becomes a part of your life. You build relationships through philanthropic work and connections to others who also want to make a difference. She also speaks about how the key to gaining donations is to reach out to people that are already giving and find out how to convince them to donate more. Making those connections is the key to helping your non-profit organization grow. It is important to have these organizations continue because these organizations save lives. They help people get through hard times and have a better tomorrow. WAY FM has helped many people just by providing their music. It is inspiring and it shows the effect these non-profit organizations can have. ?This interview has inspired me to want to work for a non-profit organization. I want my career to involve making a difference in this world and making it a better place. I want to help my community, even if it’s through a small job. I see now that work with value means so much more. Having a career that involves serving and helping others gives you bigger purpose in life. I want to have a bigger purpose like Greta Moncayo. I want to do something that I deep down truly know to be as something that is good for the people in my community. I also learned through this video, that even if I do not get to work in a non-profit, I can still help my community by working with a corporation through corporate social responsibility. There are many ways that I can prioritize philanthropy in my life through my career.?
