NO VISUALIZATION — It is the prime reason why your hard work is not bearing any fruit.

What is visualization?
Visualization is a great personal development tool that allows you to visualize your future in a certain way. According to Wikipedia, “Creative visualizationis the cognitive process of purposefully generating visual mental imagery with open or closed eyes, in order to maintain, inspect, and transform those images with an intent to experience physiological and psychological benefits.”
In simple words, it is the act of recreating all the thoughts, images, sounds, and feelings in your mind to visualize a certain activity and spreading vibrations into the Universe to make it come true.
Why should you visualize?
Oftentimes, when we wish to achieve something, say accumulating $1,00,000 or reducing 10 kilograms of your body weight, we imagine the picture of a bundle of notes or an image of a super-fit model. When we imagine or visualize the future or the end result, these mental images inspire you to take action and motivates you to crush your goals.
How visualization really works
The mind is made up of two parts — conscious and subconscious parts. The subconscious mind is like clay, it cannot think of its own. You can mold it whatever you want; it doesn’t know good or evil, profit or loss, courage or fear. It will take things the way you perceive them to be.
On the other side, whatever you’re feeding to your subconscious mind, the conscious mind starts taking the thoughts seriously and sets about bringing it into existence.
Even Science backs up the power of visualization with a logical explanation. It says that the neurons in our brains perceive mental imagery as a real-life action. Upon visualization, the brain generates an impulse which makes the neuron act. This neural activity directs the brain to act in accordance with our desired outcome.
How Linda made her dream come true with powerful visualization
A few months back, I was reading The Secret — a revolutionary book that miraculously changed the lives of thousands of people. In a nutshell, it encourages the idea of the Law of Attraction and visualizing abundance in life to attract whatever we desire. It shared a story of a woman, let’s name her Linda and understand how creative visualization helped her visualize the future and make it a reality.
Linda was going through a rough patch in her life. She was planning to switch to another career and wanted to apply to colleges again. But the colleges she wanted to apply for had closed admissions.
With a heavy heart, she decided to drop the idea to apply this year and decided to take part in the admissions the next year. She didn’t know what to do this year but had a desire to go to the hills and teach kids for some months. So, she decided to volunteer for an NGO for teaching kids. As luck would have it, she couldn’t join the NGO that time for some unknown reasons.
But she was determined to get it and starting visualizing herself teaching to the kids in that NGO and would send out good thoughts every now and then. While visualizing, she would imagine every single detail like the number of kids, the dress she would wear, the classrooms to everything else. She truly visualized it and would thank the Universe in advance for fulfilling the wish.
Finally, one fine day, the NGO responded and accepted her volunteer application. That’s how Linda made her dream come true to teach kids with daily visualization and that too with all food and accommodation paid for five months.
William S. Gilbert quoted it right, “Losers visualize the penalties of failure. Winners visualize the rewards of success.”
How to try your hand at visualization
The concept of visualization follows no hard and fast rule, you can use creative visualization to focus on your goals and propel your growth like never before. Different people apply different techniques. It’s more like trial and error, you might have to try doing it in a way that benefits you the most.
When I engage myself in the process of creative visualization, I do the following steps. If you find them interesting, feel free to take a leaf or two out of the book.
- Relax: Find an uninterrupted place with no external noises and distractions. Sit comfortably, close your eyes slowly, and start taking deep breaths. Be mindful of the time you decide to visualize. Early mornings and late nights are the most appropriate times in my opinion but you have to try it out by yourself to see what works the best for you.
- Imagine: Start imagining whatever you wish to achieve in an ideal way in a quiet environment. If you want to lose some weight, think how you would look like after losing weight. Visualize every little detail. Imagine how the dress would fit, how great you would feel, and people showering you with compliments and let the magic begin.
- Picture the scene as someone else: There lies a great power in visualizing your future to propel your growth. You can amplify the impact if you picture the scene as a third person. Remember how watching a scene in a movie gives you a fresh perspective. Likewise visualizing your goal as someone else would leave you with some insightful information and realization.
- Stay: The whole purpose of doing this technique is to be present in the moment, gather your energies, and put them into implementation to elevate your level of consciousness and growth. To make it work for you, stay for as long as possible in the moment of visualizing your future.
- Wrapping up: As important it is to start a process right, wrapping up holds equal significance as well. After you have visualized your future, smoothly make the transit to the real world. Open up your eyes slowly and prepare your mind the use the accumulated force to be utilized in the best manner in the pursuit of a better future.
Last few words…
Creative visualization is no less than an art. It would give you the best rewards only if your intention is right and the action is strong. Abraham Hicks said something very relevant and worth sharing on how to focus on your goals and do it effectively. He said,
“When you visualize for the joy of visualizing rather than the intention of correcting the deficiency, your thoughts are more pure, and therefore more powerful.”
Always remember that visualization won’t guarantee success unless not backed by strong action and regularity. But if you are leveraging the power of your subconscious and conscious mind alongside the right intent, nothing can stop you from touching the sky.
All the best!
