When OpenAI released ChatGPT on November 30th, 2022, the internet went crazy with how fast and effective the AI model was(and still is). Up to today, most people, companies, and brands have enjoyed its benefits and some have reported mixed results when it comes to the use of ChatGPT.
Many speak of its advantages, but don’t want to speak of its disadvantages yet we all know there are two sides to a coin.
This article points out the other side of ChatGPT you might not know. Maybe you do.
But, did you know that in June 2023, a decrease of 10.52% in ChatGPT visits was reported? The first drop of its kind ever since the launch of the AI model. (Research done by Statistica)
That tells you something is going on, and consumers are feeling it. It's just about time we know exactly what it is.
Let’s find out what your content would lack if you relied solely on ChatGPT for its production.
1. Originality
The risk of sounding like other creators, especially your competitors. Have you scrolled through Facebook and found a post similar to 5 others on your feed? Same structure, same wordings but different signouts? That’s ChatGPT content. And not just Facebook, LinkedIn, and other apps too. I have seen that several times and to be honest with you, there is a creator I used to admire until I found out their content was solely AI produced. I lacked trust in them. And I am not the only one.
According to research conducted by Tooltester, 71.3% of people will trust a brand less if they get to know the content was strictly produced by AI.
2. Quality
To make your brand stand out, your content has to stand out. Yes, ChatGPT can produce content, but how unique is the content compared to your competitors? Does it contain deep well-researched information or just generic information?
They say ChatGPT is efficient, true. But when has quantity beat quality unless it's quality quantity?
If the quality is compromised, just do good by your brand and seek quality writing services from quality content writers. You would rather spend a few coins than risk putting out low-quality content.
3. Accuracy
The last thing you want is to dish out content that contains inaccurate information. ChatGPT is clear about the kind of information it can produce. Since the beginning, OpenAI(ChatGPT developer) has been open about ChatGPT having information only up to 2021. As quoted from the OpenAI site, ”ChatGPT is not connected to the internet, and it can occasionally produce incorrect answers. It has limited knowledge of the world and events after 2021 and may also occasionally make harmful instructions or biased content.”
That means if your content speaks of current affairs, and yet you are using ChatGPt to produce it, you could be giving out false information.
Which could lead to the following.
4. Lack of Credibility
Why risk the trust of your audience, something you have worked so hard for, by solely relying on ChatGPT for content?
Remember, most people(your audience included) are using ChatGPT for other factors. So they are likely to notice content that ChatGPT has produced. This is not a bluff.
According to recent research conducted by Tooltester, 49.6 % of readers can confirm if the content has been written by ChatGPT. And if you don't let them know at the end of your writing, you risk losing them all. Well, about 71.3%. That’s close to all, right? You don't want to lose that trust. Do you?
One more thing to consider before solely relying on ChatGPT for content.

5. It’s a risk to your business?
Anything and everything fed to the ChatGPT bot remains with ChatGPT. That means your information is likely to be used by someone else just in case one asks the bot a similar question.
Imagine feeding ChatGPT information about your brand, including all important information that is not supposed to be known by the public, just so it can produce better content, only for all of it to remain with the bot.
Yes, you will have a perfect copy. But at what expense? At the cost of leaving your brand's secrets to the public? That's too risky!?
You cannot delete certain prompts as confirmed by OpenAI, “We are not able to delete specific prompts from your history. Please don't share any sensitive information in your conversations.”
PS. ChatGPT is banned in some countries including; Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Iran, China, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, and Italy. The reasons are unclear.
Conclusion
Everything has a good side and a bad side. While it's good to focus on the good, it's advisable to beware of the bad too. As a brand, to make your content outstanding, focus on producing quality original copy. But if you must use ChatGPT-generated content, at least, notify your readers.
