Why you should still use a Recruitment Agency, even in these dark old times !!

Its now our 10th working week in lockdown and the world is a very different place to what it was 3 months ago. As I've mentioned in previous posts there are a large number of companies that have really been negatively impacted due to Covid-19 (Aviation, Retail, Hospitality etc) and any recruitment for many companies is understandably the last thing they are looking at right now. If anything its about damage limitation and strategy on how they are going to get through these massive changes that this damn virus brings (Social Distancing at Work, Travel to Work to name but a few)

There are thankfully some companies are still continuing to buck the trend and whilst not in the same abundance as 3+ months ago they are still growing and looking to add to their teams, so why use an external recruitment agency to assist you I hear you cry !!!, many people reading this will say Recruitment Agencies are either too expensive or employers can do the job themselves (this may well be true in certain factors i.e. Internal Recruiters onsite etc), also knowing what the market is like why would an employer need assistance from agencies when they can run an advert and get an abundance of candidates apply - all are very much applicable however there is always a Ying and a Yang and many companies don't factor the most important element of all this, which is your TIME.

I'll give you abs example of this, a colleague of mine recently advertised an IT Project Manager on Contract paying £450 per day, within less than 12 hours of advertising the role we received over 1000 applications, the office phone did not stop ringing and it got so bad that we had to stop advertising the role so we could actually work the position (A nice problem to have I hear you say - however lets say that the role was advertised directly by the employer and they received the same response - do you think they would have the time to acknowledge every single application, sift through over 1000 CV's, qualify the shortlisted ones whilst still responding to calls coming in)

By my estimate if you received 1000 applications and you spend just 5 minutes looking at every CV then that equates to over 10 working days just looking at CV's (based on an 8 hour working day) so surely your time as an employer could be better spent elsewhere. This equation doesn't factor in calling and qualifying the candidates, responding to unsuccessful applications, organising interviews and more so why not let an agency do this for you so you only see exactly what you are looking for.

A point to note is on the Project Manager role we did acknowledge every single application, look at every CV, qualify the best suited, submit 3 Candidates CV's to the end client and today we have 2 interviews (fingers crossed on this) - How did we do this in less than 2 days - that's a secret we can't give away (we can't tell you everything - that's like telling you my secret Tuna Pasta Recipe!!!)

Surely if you are a client reading this it makes sense to consider your TIME and work out if its really worthwhile for you to do your own recruiting. A point to note is that Agencies (unless on retained fees) will work for free and we only get paid on success, so we carry all the risk, pay for the advertising, sift through applications, go out and search for your ideal candidate, quality the candidate, hand hold both client and candidate through a smooth a positive journey, even provide amazing aftercare, so at the very least before you start to recruit yourself think about your TIME, are you really making the best of it and when you factor this in plus your costs isn't it worth an external agency consideration before you start the process.

Lastly and I don't want to blow my own trumpet here, I've been in external recruitment for over 25 years (Jesus that does make me feel really old) so if you choose to work with us i.e. Jenrick Commercial Ltd, then you are truly dealing with an experts, we know exactly what to do, where to go and what door to knock on and we do it for free unless you decide to hire and of course the candidate decides to accept.

At the very least knowing what the market is like right now (mega high volumes of candidates applying) going down the agency route is well worth a second thought.

Obviously if you are recruiting right now we would of course Love to hear from you and feel free to mail me at [email protected]
