In Greek mythology Tithonus, a prince of Troy, is granted eternal life by Zeus. But that is not the same as everlasting youth, and Tithonus quickly becomes frail and senile. Many of today’s tech billionaires seem to have taken note. As my colleague Geoff Carr reports in his Technology Quarterly on slowing human ageing, Peter Thiel, a co-founder of PayPal, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founders of Google, and Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, have all invested in firms trying to prolong the years of good health. Some of this research is making progress.

If you could live healthily into your hundreds, what would you do with your extra time? For our stand-in Bartleby columnist on management and work, the answer, perhaps unsurprisingly, is toil. She invokes Tony Soprano and Jerry Seinfeld to make the case for never retiring, and argues that the buzz of the workplace can act as its own kind of anti-ageing serum. If she is right then Tithonus had only to join those 9am Zoom calls with the gods and he might have had it all.

Feel like the family tree is tracing me--somedays, I feel like an outline (within reality).

Written from the perspective of someone lucky enough to find fulfillment in their job. For those of us who find our jobs mind-numbingly dull, it's a different story.
