Why you should keep choosing native over hybrid mobile app development
When starting to think of a new mobile app development, many companies consider hybrid as an option, sometimes behind some myths I’ll try to break.
Not just the name. As you might already know, native apps are built with the SDKs and programming languages designed by the OS makers (Google and Apple) for that purpose. While hybrid apps make use of Web technologies (HTML / Javascript) that’s later embedded into a framework to be presented as if they were native.
So native apps are made with focus on each platform’s guidelines, languages and frameworks.
The Pareto principle. There’s a myth about how incredible fast is to build a hybrid app and make it available for both Android and iOS at once. But the truth is when you get closer to the end of the project and you have just the remaining 20% of the time, you’ll realize 80% of the project is still missing. Hence you’ll encounter some hidden costs that will make you jump of your chair.
User experience. You want to present the best user experience to your users. Native apps provide the best usability and features since it’s able to take advantage of all the features of the device, while the hybrid app is limited. Remember, user experience is the key to an application’s success.
Care for design. Even when you have a great design for the app, on a hybrid environment you won’t get the native “feeling” you are looking for. You might also consider when possible, the idea of making a design for each platform (Android and iOS) in order to make it more appealing.
Choosing native over hybrid is still the way to go for us. If you feel you need more info or help deciding, reach us out. We can definitely help you make the right decision.

7 年With the power computational increase of modern devices, hybrid is more than an option for a certain kind of apps. On the other hand, native costs to develop and mantain apps are more or less 50% higher. I think native and hybrid can manage to cohexist, it depends on the specific project to carry on
