Why You Should implement a RAG to Boost your SEO or your productivity ?

In the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), large language models (LLMs) have become a cornerstone. They power generative AI chatbots that we use daily. These LLMs, trained on vast public datasets, are very versatile.

However, a significant limitation arises when the AI assistant needs to access our personal or corporate data (private data). In such cases, the generic LLM enabling the AI assistant is not much help. So, how can we improve quality of text generation for SEO ? Here's where Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) comes into play. RAG is a method that enables LLMs to understand and utilize our private data.

The most important painpoint for a marketer using AI is to improve text generation with contextual data. The prompts engineering are no longer sufficient.

What is RAG ?

A RAG, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation, is an innovative method that revolutionizes how we approach content generation. Imagine a tool that combines the power of information retrieval with personalized LLMs to generate high-quality content.

Here's how it works in practice: the RAG uses LLM to extract relevant information from a vast database. This data can include articles, case studies, statistical data, or documents such as PDFs. It then incorporates this information into the content generation process, enabling writers and marketers to create richer and more informative texts.

The benefits are manifold. Firstly, RAG saves valuable time by automatically searching for and gathering relevant data from its database. It improves the content quality by relying on reliable information extracted from its database or validated documents.

Is being dependent on a public LLM, a bad idea ?

How does RAG work?

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is an innovative approach that enables an existing LLM to become contextually aware of your private data. Here's a simplified explanation of how it works:

Create a Knowledgebase : The first step involves breaking your text data into manageable chunks. These chunks are then transformed into vectors using a suitable embedding model. This step is crucial because AI models process numbers, specifically vectors, not plain text.

Vector Storage : The vectors are stored in a database designed for quick retrieval.

Query Processing : When a query comes in, it triggers a lookup in the vector database to find the most relevant data chunks.

Contextual Response : These chunks are then used to add context to the query, which is fed back into the LLM. Armed with this contextual knowledge, the LLM can respond more accurately.

Additional benefits of RAG

  • You can use open source LLMs
  • You can use LLMs locally
  • You can use company documents confidentially
  • You can connect your DAM or your PIM
