Why you should be eating Quinoa!

1) IT’S PACKED WITH PROTEIN: Quinoa contains complete protein, meaning that it contains all nine of the essential amino acids your body needs. It is vegetarian friendly and gluten free.

2) IT AIDS MUSCLE CONTRACTION: Quinoa contains iron which helps to keep our red blood cells healthy! Iron also transports oxygen around the body, to fuel our muscle contraction.

3) IT HELPS DIGESTION: It contains almost twice as much fibre as other grains. This fibre content aids digestion and relieves constipation!

4) IT PROMOTES GROWTH AND REPAIR: Lysine is found in Quinoa. This is an amino acid that is used to synthesise proteins. This makes it is essential for tissue and muscle growth and repair. 

5) IT ENCOURAGES STABLE BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS: Quinoa has a low glycaemic index (GI) meaning that energy is released into the bloodstream slowly. The benefit of this is that blood sugar levels remain relatively stable. Foods that have a high GI are thought to stimulate hunger and contribute to weight gain.

It should be noted that Quinoa contains a very displeasurable coating, and should be thoroughly washed and drained.
