Why you should consider a regional centre for your next early childhood role

Whether you are an experienced early childhood educator or a recent graduate looking for your next role, it might be time to consider taking things regional. Australia’s regions are diverse in geography, from coastal to inland rural, but share a sense of community that can make for a great place to live and work.?

If you haven’t considered living and working in a regional area, check out just a few reasons why you should below.

And if it sounds interesting, get in touch with Lloyd Connect . We have several regional EEC opportunities available right now, many with generous financial incentives and relocation bonuses.

#1 Enjoy a change of pace?

Whether you’ve always lived in a city or are considering moving from one region to another, Australia’s diverse regions offer different lifestyle opportunities. From the rural idyll and farmland environments where nature reigns supreme to coastal areas where the beach is a stone’s throw away, there’s something for everyone.

And while it might sound like a stereotype, in many regions, life really is more laid back, so if you’re keen to get out of the rat race, it might be time for a sea or tree change.

#2 Feel part of a community??

Despite the diverse lifestyles on offer, one common thread that regional areas share is a greater sense of community than in urban areas where everyone is always on the go. In most regional areas, communities are highly connected, people participate in community activities, and events are well-attended. This means building a new network is likely to be much easier than it is in cities too.

If you like the idea of being part of a connected community, a regional lifestyle might be for you.?

#3 Find more affordable housing in great areas

In most metropolitan areas today, housing affordability is a growing issue. However, not so in most of our regions. You can find reasonably priced properties for sale or lease from wine country to the coast. So if you fancy yourself living near the beach, in a rural setting or just having more space and a backyard for the kids or that dog you’ve always wanted, it might be time to go regional. ?

#4 Get to know local children and families ??

In a regional area, you might be working at the only centre in town or just one of a small handful. Families often stay with these centres for years, sending multiple children, so you can build relationships and be part of the family’s lives longer term. While this can be true in cities, with more transient populations and a much wider choice of centres, it’s not always the case.

#5 Cut out the commute??

Let’s face it, driving across the city or sitting on public transport to and from work every day is not the most desirable of experiences! With more affordable housing and a smaller area, you’ll likely be working a short (traffic-free!) drive or even a stroll from your home. That means more time doing what you love and maybe even a sleep-in. ??

#6 Enjoy a higher standard of living?

Generally speaking, regions offer a higher standard of living on almost all indicators for the average wage earner. And, if you have a family, local public schools tend to be smaller, more entwined with the community and often well-funded. ?

#7 A range of skills are in high demand

It’s not just EEC skills in high demand in our regions. If you are relocating with a partner or family who will also need to find work, opportunities abound. Some industries crying out for skilled workers include hospitality, construction, healthcare, engineering, primary and secondary education, and accounting, to name just a few.
