Why You Should Blog
Many entrepreneurs still have a blog on their website, although not every company blogs equally fanatically. Many have given up writing because it did not have the desired effect, because they think they have nothing to write about or because of lack of time. This while the benefits are great. Blogging generates more traffic to your website, you get the chance to exude authority, you create involvement with your customers and you can easily reach a large audience - especially if you also share your blog posts on Social Media.
Even in 2021, writing blogs is still a very effective way to promote your business online and achieve a good position in Google. In this post, I share the three most important points you should pay attention to as a company when writing blogs (and other website texts).
1. Write strong texts
It may seem like a dead giveaway, but a good text stands or falls by the language and typing errors it contains. You can have written such a professional and interesting article, if there are language errors, you will undermine your own professionalism. It is also important to interest your visitors from the very first moment. You do that in the introduction. A good introduction captures the attention of visitors, the rest of the text will not let go. Finally, the length of the text is very important. There is no maximum, although it depends on the subject. Make sure your blog post has a minimum of 300-400 words, this contributes to the findability of the text in Google.
2. Be valuable to your customers
The content of your blog is also incredibly important. As an entrepreneur you are naturally extremely enthusiastic about your own business. Yet it is important to temper your own enthusiasm. Many companies tend to give too much irrelevant information. Start with a clear goal and one clear topic with which you create value for your visitors. When they read helpful tips on a topic relevant to your business, they are more likely to ask you for tips than a competitor. That is why it is also important to include internal links to other pages in your blogs. In this way you help visitors who want to know more on their way within your website. It is also important to keep adding to your blog. This is a trap that many companies fall into. Often people start a blog with enthusiasm, but afterwards it turns out that it takes too much time to write and maintain. A blog where nothing has been posted for months or years can give the idea that the company behind it is not so active anymore.
3. The pitfall of keywords
Many companies still think that it is important to include lots of keywords in the text so that Google can index the article. This is no longer the case. Google's algorithms have become so clever that adding too many keywords is counterproductive. After all, Google can see for itself what the article is about and what its relevance is. One main keyword with a maximum of two sub-keywords is more than sufficient. The most important thing is to process the keywords in a natural way in the text. A text that is easy to read is a lot more user friendly and Google understands this. After all, you write the blog for your visitors and customers, not for Google.
