Mom is in the bathroom in the shower.
Baby bro is watching the news.
The middle bro is blow-drying his hair for hair braiding.
Got a manicure appointment later today.
It's fair outside — 69 degrees here in New York.
Let's talk about why you need to rest.
------------------------------
There is something we don't talk about often.
Rest.
There are different types of rest:
1. Physical rest (for your body)
2. Mental rest (for your head)
3. Spiritual rest (for people connected to their faith)
There are other types of rest.
But it is close to impossible to live without rest. You see, I've had jobs working the overnight or graveyard shift.
Have you ever worked an overnight or graveyard shift?
It starts between 10:00 p.m. and midnight. It ends between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
It takes a toll when you try to stay up through the night.
The reason why you need to rest is to be at your best.
There is a difference between rest and sleep.
Rest is to give your mind and emotions a life break.
Sleeping is to give your body a break.
One example of rest is when you daydream or self-reflect.
And Mom told me to get some sleep as I'm writing this.
Love you, Mom.
Rest reduces stress so you can stress less.
Practice resting for 15 minutes.
Set boundaries. Play music on your playlist.
Relax.
Take the time to rest.
Your future self will thank you.
Talk soon,
Craig
P.S. Do you think rest is underrated? For me, it's something we need more of. You?

2 个月I recently had a two-week holiday, plus four weeks of the kids' break, where I was working in 'minimum mode.' Balancing between getting things done and being present was challenging, but it gave me time to rest, refresh, and recharge. It worked better than the intense, never-ending work hours I used to have in Japan. :)
