I know this is an old post, but still relevant. Many businesses post for a proposal coordinator yet what they really want is a proposal manager. Also many places interpret the role of a prop coord differently.

Along with the certifications, experience, and degrees, it's also very important that managers and coordinators have the right soft skills to lead and manage teams including communication, initiative, time management, and the ability to receive feedback in a constructive way (i.e. good 'ol thick skin).
