Why You Need To Find Work-Life Integration

Why You Need To Find Work-Life Integration

I don’t believe in work-life balance.?

I think it is both unsustainable (i.e., one side always wins out) and impractical (i.e, you can’t live two completely separate lives).?

Instead, I like to think about work-life integration.

But what exactly does that mean?

It means that I’ve aligned everything I do to improve my health and happiness as a human, and that in turn fuels my ability to perform at my best as a strategic seller (and other areas of my life).

It’s similar to how the world’s best athletes operate. Their diets, exercise routines, sleep habits, and more don’t exist independently of their training and competitions. It’s all one, interconnected ecosystem.?

And it’s possible for salespeople to create an integration that’s optimal for them.

Here’s How I Do It:

  1. My morning routine largely consists of warming up with intention. I follow a prescriptive process of what James Clear, author of Atomic Habits , calls habit-stacking: Breathe, Read, Listen, Write, Track, Plan. This primes my brain to be ready to tackle my hardest tasks when energy is high (typically 90 minutes after waking up - Thanks Rise app !). You wouldn’t immediately sprint a 100m race without warming up—why treat your brain (and to do list) any differently?
  2. Throughout the day, I intentionally integrate breaks and recovery. That allows me to keep my productivity levels up even when things are a bit less in my control. Rest and recovery don’t only occur while you’re asleep, and it’s important to give yourself the time and space to re-energize.?
  3. In the evening, I use my “rebound” time to focus on more strategic and creative work. That way, I maximize my opportunities for deep thinking while also ensuring my most important tasks are front and center for me to tackle during my highest peak energy state. I also use this time to plan out tomorrow’s (awesome) workday.

By taking control of my day instead of being reactive to what happens in real-time, I believe I give myself an edge relative to my peers. Sometimes, that edge can make all the difference.

That’s work-life integration.

And since I’ve adopted it as a central philosophy, I’ve seen a measurable impact on my sales outcomes

Before: It took me 24 months to reach $11M in ARR.?

After this shift: I was able to close over $14M in ARR in just 10 months.?
