Why You Need to Automate

It might be time to rethink your automation strategy and do an assessment of the systems you have in place. If you are great with people, then more of your business can be automated than you think. If you think you already have enough automation, then let me ask you, are you happy with your current results? 

The Benefits of Automation

Automation allows you to scale your business.  If you offer services one-to-one, you can add a one-to-many model to your business and turn your expertise into extra passive income. That can only happen by having the right systems in place. 

Automation speeds up and streamlines your work. When you get rid of time-draining tasks, you can focus on more important things. There are both routine tasks and 'thinking' tasks that require more concentration and critical analysis on your part, as the business owner. When you can put some of the routine tasks on autopilot, you can spend more time on the higher level, value-added tasks.

Automation allows you to focus on what you love.  Think of all the tasks you have to do each day. Many are repetitive and tedious, wasting your time and energy. When you automate, those tasks take care of themselves and you can focus on leveling-up in your business and pursuing things that ignite your passion.

 

Tasks You Can Automate

There are tools that allow you to automate nearly every aspect of your business. Once you start using them, you'll be amazed at how easy it is and you'll wonder how you ever got along without them.  Here are some of the top automation tools I use and recommend for lead capture, email marketing, and content scheduling:

  • Constant Contact: Email marketing, lead capture, and relationship building - Sign up

What Can't Be Automated

There are some things that should never be automated. The main one is your marketing strategy. You need to be in charge of your long-term goals and the measures you take to achieve them. For your vision and passion to be communicated properly, you need to be involved in this key task directly.

Relationship building also can't be done by machines. We put systems in place, so we have more time for relationship building. But, people don’t want to connect with systems alone, they want to connect with you. The personal touch and systems go hand in hand, and work together to grow your business.

While content curation can be automated somewhat, content creation should not be automated, or at least the conceptual content ideas should be generated by you, according to your core values. Your content needs to be fresh and original, and express your passion and purpose. 

Systems are your friend. Of course, automated systems aren't perfect. The learning curve to become knowledgeable about each automation tool does require a commitment, but the time you save in the long run makes it well worthwhile.  Having solid, predictable systems in place allows you to focus on your purpose, and spend time engaging with people in a meaningful way. Ultimately, you'll save time and make more money. When you know how each system works, and the results you want and need, you'll also save on outsourcing.
