Why do we sometimes fail in getting results in the job search process? We fail to re-brand ourselves; we continue looking, feeling, speaking, and projecting our persona of the job we have or had not the job we want.
Re-branding yourself is your major competitive advantage. Everyone has papers and skills. It's unlearning the old and learning the new. You have to think, feel, dress, and start acting differently. It starts with your mind!
No one will give you a chance if you project the old persona in an interview where your new persona needs to reflect and be seen.
Do not go to an interview with the same attire you wear or wore to your current/old job. It has a psychological aspect to it, it will affect how you feel about yourself.
Do you need to improve on your confidence level? Many will attend interviews with the view that I really need this job or am done for; you fail to project the image that ''I'm the person you need, I'm your solution provider, I'm the person you are looking for.''
Prop up your body, hold your head up high, walk the part, sit in a proper and authoritative posture. Remember body language is 70% of communication.
Improve on your listening and presentation skills. We are not born with them, we have to learn both.
How about your negotiation skills? Are you good at it? Or do you take what is thrown to you on the table in terms of JD, working conditions, paycheque, and benefits?
Most people do not research on the Company they have been called to an interview to and if they do, as I have observed during mock interviews (interview preparation sessions), they have very scanty details they know of the Company. How then will you answer the question ''Why should we hire you?'' Google will give you the answer but you'll fail the interview using that answer you googled. No apologies from me to Google.
