Why Do You Keep Doing Stupid Sh**..?
?? Ryan Blackburn
I Help Business Leading Men Lose 5-20+ kg's, Build Mental Strength, & 10? their Energy so that they Look the Part, Feel the Part, & Lead by Example in life.
There was a more complicated boring name for this release but "Stupid Sh**" sounded better.
The question I'm really referring to in the title is the one posed to me by my newest client.
And I realised a lot of you have probably wondered this at some point, in some shape or form. However, this question is actually just another question disguise which I'll get to.
So what is the question my client asked?
"I know I'm overweight and I know this will lead to problems in later life so why do I keep making the 'bad' food choices?"
Maybe you've thought it.
Maybe you haven't.
Maybe you've thought similar, or along the same lines.
But the point is, you can't understand why you make the 'bad' choices over again and again with the knowledge that it'll lead to bad health - maybe even fatal - consequences at some point.
"Fatal!" - sounds pretty serious, right? So why can't you make the connection and correct your 'bad' choices? You wanna know?
Here's your answer:
You don't know what 'bad consequences' even feels like.
You don't know what it feels like to be literally on your death bed at 66.
You have no idea how these 'bad consequences' actually feel [yes I repeated it].
I repeated it because the most important thing you can take from this here is that you have to FEEL something in order to change your behaviour over the long term.
I'm going to repeat that: The most important thing you can take from this here is that you have to [really f***ing] FEEL something in order to change your behaviour over the long term.
[Feel that extra ummph!?]
You need to feel either the painful discomfort or greatest pleasure to attain and maintain your desired behaviour. And that behaviour encompasses your actions driven by motivation & self-discipline.
Information & knowledge are not enough - they're not enough when it comes to the diet world as you probably know by now.
And they're not enough to change your behaviour or motivate you into action.
Basic Maths + Science:
Information + Knowledge DO NOT = Motivation to Change
Purpose + Visceral Feelings = Motivation to Change
The Child & a Hot Plate Scenario:
Parent says "don't touch the plate, it's hot!"

Child being the curious child reaches over and touches it anyway.
Curious child gets burnt.
They feel the burn as pain, and correct their action going forward.
Parent inevitably says "you won't be doing that again will you".
You with me yet?
So, the question now is - and has been all along in disguise - "how do I make myself feel motivated if 'bad' future health won't?"
How do you feel your way into being motivated, self-disciplined, and consistent to your goal, aim and mission?
This is one of the key areas I specifically focus on getting clarity around with my guys and it's not actually too difficult - it's just finding the sweet spot that can be tricky.
And it's something that all leaders - likely including you - have used to accomplish great success in their career so far.
The Live I did a week back actually covered this beautifully - if I do say so myself - and in more clarity than I can hope to give you in this newsletter without going on forever.
So if you're actually serious about finding the motivation to commit, to change, and to be better, you need to watch this.
If you're inpatient then skip to 9 minutes - this is the most significant part for this topic.
