Have you ever thought, where is happiness? Most people are in search of happiness as if it were a destination, a place to go, "I just do this and that, and I am happy when I get there."
Through my journey, I have realized that happiness is not a destination, but it is a way of living, and you can choose it every day. Happiness is a choice, your choice!
We have been conditioned to believe that happiness is to be found outside of ourselves, but happiness comes within. Nothing outside of ourselves will make us happy if we are not happy within in the first place.
Perhaps it sounds to you like "yada, yada", but it is true! It sounded to me in that way many times, and now I can see clearly how true it is.
You might be happy in some areas of your life and others you are not, but have you thought, why?
You are happy in some areas of your life because of the meaning you are giving to it, "I am happy here because I have this, I have accomplished that". Similarly, you are not happy in other areas because the meaning you are giving to them, "I haven't reached this or I don't have that; thus, I am not happy."
In my experience, there are five reasons why most people are not happy:
1- The conditioning of our society that tells us what should make us happy
2- Expectations of how things should go, and if they don't go in the way we expect we are not happy.
3- Attachments to things or people, if something changes that we don't want, we suffer.
4- This statement, "I will be happy when (fill in the blank)."
5- If someone behaves in the way we don't want, we are not happy.
Did you notice that all of them are outside of yourself? Can you observe that they are ideas you created on your mind of what you think will make you happy? How much control you have of external factors and people's behaviours?
I invite you to look at the areas of your life that you are not happy and reflect on what meaning you are giving. And ask yourself, what can I learn from this?
Happiness comes from within, you won't find it anywhere else.
When you are happy you are productive, you are creative, and you can see what is possible for you! If you need help to find your happiness and enjoy everything that you do, contact me, I will be delighted to help!
