WHY ARE YOU FOCUSING ON THEM?

Last year November 2022 I , in my capacity as Senior Pastor of Gospel Envoys Church, called the Youth and Campus Ministry Exco to my office to give me an update on their preparations for the Annual International Youth Camp. Gospel Envoys Church has presence in over 143 Universities and colleges so that is quite a large network of youths.

As I received the updates, I started asking if certain individuals I really thought are most committed and very influential had confirmed. When two or so of them were reported not to have confirmed attendance I started questioning whether the camp would work out.

Then one of the executive members said “sir why are you focusing on those who are not coming. Sir we have so many more who are coming. We think those who have made up their minds that this meeting is for them should be our focus”

At that point so much more wisdom exploded in my heart like multiple explosions from a high level bomb. WHY ARE YOU FOCUSING ON THEM I KEPT ASKING MYSELF

Why do professionals burn their precious energy and time focusing on that company which never treated them well or that boss whom they think was unfair to them, or probably that promotion they believe was unfairly taken from them. Sometimes you may even find that they have so much more that has gone right yet they are worked up about the little that never went well.

Why do Pastors sometimes work themselves up to a level of even thinking you are a bad Pastor just because one has sold you for 30 pieces of silver. Why are you focusing on them when you have 11 who are for you?

Even if you are not a professional or pastor as the case maybe above, why are you focusing on the extremely few ones that hurt you when you have multitudes who have been a blessing in your life?

Why are you focusing on the few relatives or friends who never supported you than the many strangers God raised on the way to support you?

Guess what! When I changed my focus I realised :

There were so many more attending the Camp than any other we had ever held. The photo below is a happy me during a Q and A segment in the camp.

I realized as a Pastor that when some I was worked up about left we had 12 churches today we are in 182 places. You heard me. That is over 170 more centres we never had when they left.

Friends WHY ARE YOU FOCUSING ON THEM?

I am sure when you look you will realise you are more successful now than when they denied you the help. You even have a far much better job or position than the one they unfairly denied you.

I think you can see that you now have a man or woman who loves you genuinely more than you ever experienced with the others

I am sure you can see that you have been getting worked up about social media posts by people who don’t love you when this space has so many pages to mentor you to your destiny

I am sure you can even tell that you have been spending time and even money trying to impress those who never help you in your financial goals yet you have so many who love you whether you have or you don’t have what the world values

Maybe you are working hard trying to be validated and loved by those who have made up their minds about you and only see you through their attitude when God has given you many who just love you as you.

I am not sure who I am speaking to today BUT WHY ARE YOU FOCUSING ON THEM
