Why You Feel Stuck In a Cycle Of Problems…And How To Stop This Once And For All

Be HONEST, what problems do you have in your life right now that you would rather not deal with?

Perhaps work is grinding you down, your kids are demanding, you've got social anxiety or your sleep is poor at best.

On top of this, your relationship has lost its spark, there is no intimacy or it mainly consists of the same arguments over and over again. Or worse, there is no communication and it feels like you may as well live with a housemate.

Maybe you feel lonely, lost or don’t really connect to the life you have built?

Whatever you’re feeling, I’ll bet you are doing anything possible to avoid having to deal with these problems…

Maybe you drink a lot, having big Fridays and weekends. Maybe you “busy” yourself in work just so you don’t have to be at home, or maybe you find yourself caught in a cycle of lounging in front of the TV, watching 3 seasons of the next best Netflix series…

Or maybe… you turn to people, using your kids, partner or friends to distract you. Maybe its food, drugs or social media that grabs for your attention. At least for a little while.

I’m guessing you feel tired, flat and wish you could find some sort of motivation. Where is it?

The truth is that we ALL have problems. It’s how you choose to deal with them that makes all the difference.

We often have two choices when it comes to our problems: Self Indulgence or Self Care. Often times self indulgence is the thing that gives you short term pleasure but make your problems worse in the long term. It can be okay from time to time, but when you turn to these things regularly, they rob you of time and energy and perpetuate the problems that you have in your life.

Self care frees up your time and energy, whilst self indulgence robs you of them; often keeping you stuck and unable to work through the things that are coming up in your life. Over the course of weeks, months and years, this leads to a pattern of being "STUCK and feeling YUCK".

At the end of the day, using distractions like Work, Food, TV, Social Media, Alcohol, and People is NOT what you are actually looking for. Yes, it feels good at the time, but only for the short term.

Friday night wine or beers seems like a great idea at the time. Maybe it’s been a huge tortuous week at work and it helps to settle the anxiety and allows you to relax…but tomorrow you wake up feeling more anxious, fatigued and gloomy than the day before. You spend all weekend trying to recover just so you can scrape yourself out of bed on Monday and do it all over again.

All of these things that make you feel BUSY or that you tell yourself are helping you to SWITCH OFF are often your minds defence mechanism that stop you from working through your problems.

In order to break free of this negative cycle, you MUST realise that we ALL have problems and we ALL have the same amount of hours in a week. It is how you choose to spend that time that really matters.

And don’t get me wrong, it can be hard to break this cycle, especially when we have been doing it for so long! But often the problems in your life are a direct reflection of how you are choosing to solve them in the first place. You just need to learn to solve them in the right way. When you can do this….You’ll find that you have:

More energy

More time

A greater sense of Direction and Purpose

Increased levels of Happiness and Joy

Increased Motivation and Productivity

Improved Sleep

Improved Physical and Mental health

Improved Focus and Attention.

What would your life be like if every week you felt better and BETTER; rather than the same, same and more of the Same…?
