For any number of reasons. Then they'll inevitably point to the latest social media platform. And 'how' for a gazillion and one reasons "why "it's far superior to old school opt in email.
But here's the rub profit seeking entrepreneur. Don't ever forget you and I don't own any of these social media platforms. The Mark Zuckerberg's of Facebook and the Reid Hoffman's of Linkedin fame.
They're the landlords. And you and I are the glorified tenants.

Entrepreneur what good does it do you and I? To build an impressive Twitter( aka) X, Instagram, Facebook or Linkedin following. Only to have your accounts temporarily or permanently shutdown.
You're basically starting over, correct? (Sure you're reading this particular article on Linkedin. But if Linkedin or any of the other social media platforms I'm currently active on.
Decides to pull the plug on my accounts. I still have my opt in email subscribers. And as long as you or I don't violate any of their "terms of agreement."
Then you/we can still effectively communicate with them. Regardless of our current or future standing on any social media platforms, right?

Immediately change (test) your subject line. To another "What's in it for me?" type of benefit laden main power headline. (Because in reality that's what your email subject line is. (A mini "What's in it for me? type of power headline.)
This changing the subject line is often referred to as A/B split testing. You send your new (test) subject line to your subscribers who for whatever reasons didn't open your initial email message to them.
And don't change any other variables. This way you can better accurately gauge which "if" either subject line resonates with your particular subscribers.

2.) Proven email marketing tip # two: Next, ethically bribe your opt in email subscribers for joining your list.
Case in point. Offer a monthly or quarterly "free drawing" of some kind. For example. If you're a retail furniture store. Offer a free drawing for a Deluxe Livingroom Set. The non opt in email subscribers 1st grand prize winner.
They win a $5,000 or X dollar value. But your 1st grand prize winner whose an opt in email subscriber automatically wins a Deluxe Livingroom Set worth double. (Say what?) Keep in mine both prizes have an actual hard cost of half or slightly less than half.
Plus don't forget. Every email subscriber who doesn't win the 1st grand prize. They automatically win an incredibly valuable, extremely time sensitive second prize worth X.
And all they need to do is order to qualify for it. Is drag a friend with them to you or your major competitors store. Whose at least 18. Before the ten or X day expiration date window expires.
