Why you care about others opinions ?

Sometimes, you can't quite explain what you want to achieve, or why you want to achieve something. But you feel a strange desire, a drive, to keep moving towards the direction of that something.

Your life experience, the good and the bad, teach you more about you than you consciously know. The next logical step for you, is not always clear to you on the surface, but you will know the path if you can harmonize with feelings of resonance within yourself.

If the thought of something feels warm and resonating within you, there is probably something there for you, perhaps a lot.

If the though of something feels cold, acidic, depleting you of your energy, it is probably not for you.

Learn to listen to your internal guidance system.

Once you do, you will find you can't get it wrong, even when you get it wrong.

It all serves a purpose.

In those moments in life when everything seemed to be failing, I always found a way to get back on track.

I began to think back to all of those moments and I put together a list of ways to find motivation.

Here are the top 10:

1. Be friends with people that inspire you

??“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” ??– Jim Rohn

I love this quote from Jim Rohn. If you’re around highly motivated friends all the time, chances are you’ll feel more energized just by spending time with them.

?Is it important to surround yourself with good people?

There are far too many negative people ?? that are happy to surround you. Negativity spreads very quickly also??. Gossiping for example is one way that negativity spreads and is easy to become a part of.

In my opinion, a good person ?? is someone who wants to help others succeed. It could be in the workplace, a teammate on your soccer team, a friend at school or any place. A good person is someone who understands that every single person is a person with needs. A good person tries to help those they come in contact with. It can be a smile to a stranger at the grocery store, holding the door for someone, bringing positivity to a not so positive situation. They don’t stick around when the gossiping begins because they have no need for that.

Negative people on the other hand is the exact opposite. Those people don’t care at all about your success. What they care about is using their energy to bring you down to their level. Being around those types of people is depressing and that’s why I’ve never understood why it’s so easy to fall into the trap of negative people.

I do know that wherever you are there will be at least one good, positive person. There may be a hundred negative people around but when you have your eyes open you will always be able to find that one person that wants to help you succeed. It’s even better when you know that you’re one of those people.

Inspiration is contagious. Surround yourself with people that motivate you to be great.

2. Take baby steps

It’s good to have big, audacious goals. All too often though, I see people sprinting to achieve their goals and expecting success quickly. When they don’t find immediate success, they become deflated and give up.

Instead of solely focusing on one big goal, break that down into a series of smaller bite-sized goals.

Having small goals that are more easily achievable will give you a sense of accomplishment and progress. It’s very motivating to see small wins as time goes on. It also gives you a chance to celebrate along the way.

It is probably about scale - small step on the way to the huge task - it is caused by the understandable intimidation of the scope of work at hand. Before you have committed, you still have a hope - even if an imaginary one - to find more effective way to reach the goal. But when you start executing the plan and make the first step, you accept the fact that so many of them have to be made yet. So, you push out the accepting of this unpleasant reality, like a child, who is hiding his face in the palms of his hands when facing something he would like to avoid.

My solution to this problem is start making the steps immediately and enjoy what I am doing. Even if the duty is imposed on me, I am trying to find a way to get a kick from it. I eagerly start and go-go-go without thinking twice, trying to cover as much distance as I can and have as much fun as I can squeeze from ti. And sure enough soon I look back and see, Wow! Quite a few steps are already behind. Then I turn off my thinking about the progress again, have fun and soon again realize that I made quite a dent in the plan.

  • My first goal is get going as soon as I can.
  • My second goal is to reach one third of the distance.
  • Then my goal is to reach one half.
  • Then everything is much easier, over the hump, downhill, whatever... It just rolls to the finish line, while I am enjoying a view in the window.
  • Then I so used to it that I am sorry the task is accomplished and I have lost the source of the fun I so used to.
  • I did it successfully so many times that it is almost automatic now. As an example, it was very intimidating to take my first tech meetup at 2010. Due to stage fear ! And the progress is so-o-o slo-o-ow. So, I enjoyed a lot with slow speaking.

Did I always hit my goal? Of course not. But every week I felt like I was making progress.

And that motivates me to keep going.

3. Reframe your problems

When we run into problems, it’s easy to lose confidence and to give up. We’re conditioned to avoid pain after all.

But what if we reframed the way we saw a problem?

Positive reframing is not pretending everything is fine when it isn’t. It is also not about stopping yourself from experiencing negative or painful thoughts and emotions. Instead, it’s about evaluating whether or not you want to believe a thought. Based on your decision, you can decide to support yourself instead of constantly criticizing yourself.?

4. Take 5 minutes every day to be grateful

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday work. Often times we find ourselves wishing for what we want, rather than being grateful for what we already have.

Everytime I feel down?? , I think of positive story and realize how grateful I should be for everything I have in my life: My health, my friends, my family and the opportunity to make a difference in the world. You can bet that I get motivated every single time I think of that story.

Take 5 minutes each morning thinking about something you’re grateful for in life. You’ll be glad that you did.

5. Mix up your workout

Working out is a great way to motivate yourself. The problem is that if you run every day, your body plateaus and adapts to that workout. A great way to keep things exciting and challenging is to mix up your workouts. For example, you could take spin classes on Monday, run on Tuesday, weight lifting on Wednesday and well, you get the point. By challenging yourself to try new workouts, you’ll test your limits. When you’re able to go beyond those limits, you’ll feel a huge sense of pride and accomplishment. The energy you get from the workouts will carry over into the rest of your life.

6. Run the 5 minute test

Whenever I find myself struggling to start something, I try to apply the “5 minute test.” Here’s how it works.

Whatever it is that you want to do (we’ll use working out as an example), tell yourself that you have to give it a go for at least 5 minutes. I mean, seriously, is it really that hard to try something for 5 minutes? 99% of the time, it isn’t.

Here’s the best part: Once you start, it’s really hard to stop usually. That’s because you’ve already built a freight train of momentum.

For example, if I change into my gym clothes and start a jog for 5 minutes, chances are I will want to keep going. Do I really want to quit after I spent 3 of those minutes to change into gym clothes?

Didn’t think so.

Try the 5 minute test. You’ll be surprised by how much you can accomplish once you get going.

7. Go to sleep

Have you ever tried to be really productive when you’re tired and cranky?

I think we all have and the results are usually disastrous. It’s hard to focus, you burn out easily and ultimately it’s hard to do great work.

In one of my old jobs, I traveled to over 5000 computer issues across city in a year for work. I was tired 90% of the time. Guess what happened? I lost my passion for work and I burned out.

You can only drink so many cups of coffee before it no longer has an effect on you. So try this instead:

Go to sleep.

Take a nap for 20 minutes. Or better yet, get a solid 8 hours of sleep (or more if you’re playing catch up). Do this consistently.

It’s really important to take care of yourself. You can’t help others if you can’t help yourself first.

And when you wake up, you’ll feel refreshed and motivated to do great things again.

8. Remember why you started

It gives you a scale of success that’s realistic in terms of your own life, a much better way to measure than comparing where you are to people farther ahead than you (for whatever reasons, and there are many) which is a great way to make yourself miserable no matter how successful you are.

  • When you feel like giving up remember why you started .
  • When you feel like quitting remember what you’re doing for it all for .
  • When you feel like quitting remember Pain is Temporary”.
  • Greatness lasts forever .

When you feel like qutting remember that the pain you feel today will be replaced with the strength you need tomorrow. Remember that every ounce of pain you feel is building a stronger you. A stronger body , A stronger mind and a stronger character .

  • So push through the pain .
  • Don’t let it stop you force it to grow you .
  • Don’t back down from the pain .
  • Face it feel no pain there is no pain .
  • That painful last rep. That’s nothing .

Give me more! Push harder . Too tired , too hard ,too busy , too early , too stressed . No excuses .

I feel like quitting I remember I have too much to fight for . I will never give up

So remember why you started.??

9. Put it on your calendar

“I’ll do it later.” Admit it, this thought crosses our minds all the time, doesn’t it?

I know it does for me. One of the hardest things to do in staying motivated is to hold yourself accountable. We always think that there’s more time later on to get stuff done. You know what ends up happening half the time? I totally forget to do it.

Here’s a neat trick to help you overcome procrastination: Put it on your calendar.

If you block off time for that activity, chances are you’re more likely to do it.

10. Celebrate

Don’t be in such a rush to get to the end goal. Life’s a heck of a marathon and you need to make sure you enjoy the ride. So next time you accomplish something, take a break and celebrate that win with people, no matter how small or big it is.

Because you know what, sharing positivity is awesome.??

”Failure gave me strength. Pain was my motivation.”
