Why Writers (especially those who write in English) should not stop learning English.

Why Writers (especially those who write in English) should not stop learning English.

English is my first language, and I never had to read for an English exam or test until I got to University and saw another version of doing English.?

This is why Robert E. Lee says, "A man's education is never completed until he dies."

You just have to keep learning that thing.?

And the more we grow in mastery, the more we realize we don't know many things.?

I did poorly in my English exam in my first year at the University.?

That was a wonder of wonders for me. But I kept learning and overcame it.

Then, I started my career as a writer. I was confident. I'd always been writing, and the avid reader that I am knows a ton of big ol' words. But there was a challenge.

The challenge?

I had to write in the simplest form possible. In a way that a 5-year-old would understand what I mean.?

I struggled with it and then had to start another learning process.

After overcoming that, I encountered IELTS and various English quizzes that made me wonder if I was still an English guru.

YOU JUST NEVER KNOW EVERYTHING!!!

Then, I stumbled across an app. I first saw the Word-Up app and wondered what to do with it. Learn English like a beginner again?

I ignored it, but my curious soul couldn't help it. I just had to open the app. I just had to. I had to see what beginner English speakers were up to.

But surprise, surprise, it was a big box of unexpected knowledge. There was just so much.

WordUp

Words that matter

First, the app is beautiful. Everything is pleasing to the eye.

And you could do a lot with it.

?Practice TOEFL and GRE and prepare for IELTS.

?Learn English for business and professional dealings.?

I'd always been curious about the choice of words for several events since I attended Model United Nations meetings, and there, I was taught that there were words that could be considered offensive in an official setting.?

Hence, this option looked advantageous.

?You can customize the app according to your profession, reason for use, favourite topic, etc. When registering, you can pick three professions and favourite topics, but you can edit or add more to these choices once you use the platform.

?Ease of learning using your language. While registering, you are asked to input your native language, and the WordUp app can change the words you need to learn and the examples into your native language.

?You can learn with friends. Set reminders to help you remember to learn. Learn with friends by getting your personalized invite code and inviting them to learn with you. A friend can also invite you.

?Talk to your favourite celebrities. When you pick your favourite celebrities, the WordUp app has powered AI to help you converse with them.

Spoke with Michael Jackson too

?You can put written words or works on WordUp to get better suggestions.

The free version is very accessible, and you get loads from it.

With the pro version, you get nine more wonders:

??Wordup Chrome extension

??Word photos and videos to help the words stick to your memory

??Unlimited AI Chat (PS. Speaking to the AI is super interesting)

??Idioms and phrases.?

??Word examples from favourite shows and people.

??Specific word choice focus

??No ads (very important)

??And you can take your lessons offline.

??IELTS and TOEFL prep

I learned that there is a lot one can do with language.

Language is versatile. It can be used for anything, which is what WordUp helps you achieve with your use of English.

As a writer…

What I aim to gain from WordUp is how to write more in an active tone.?

In writing lessons, I've learned that it makes your work readable, and though I tried to understand it, it yielded little, and Grammarly keeps pointing out my errors and persistent use of passive sentences.?

With WordUp, you can learn to improve on this aspect.

Simple on the surface, deep on the inside. My first thought about WordUp.?

Why exactly should I invest in learning English again?

?If you do your work in English and enjoy crafting creativity, then the use of WordUp can make your work way better

?Start learning how to have a lot of words at your beck and call. I'm unsure if you understand this, but I'm sure you've had moments where you wanted to describe some things while writing, and you were at a loss for words.

You need more words and phrases to help you express yourself to people reading from you.?

Yes, I know, I know. Why should you pick up learning English again?

Well, it must be important if what John Knagg says is true. About 1.5 billion people in the world are learning English.

Remember you're learning with your language too, so you not only learn English, but you also gain word structure.?

Every day, you learn two new words.?

You pick other languages you are good at and learn from them.?

Set your reminders and be on your way to crafting what makes people smile.

Cheers ??
