Why Would A Sheriff Kill A Judge?

Why Would A Sheriff Kill A Judge?

You may have seen this case out of Kentucky around Sheriff Mickey Stines, who shot and killed a judge (believe his name was Kevin Mullins) in his own county. If you are not generally familiar with law enforcement, judges and sheriffs tend to work pretty closely together, or at least know each other in good standing, and you will find different threads around the Internet that claim these two had lunch together often. So why did one kill the other?

Well, the most notable claim that seems to be out there is that Stines (the sheriff)’s daughter’s number was in both phones, meaning the judge had the number of the sheriff's daughter. I believe the daughter was either 17 or 18. The judge could have been her dad. So, there’s a potential sex angle there in. You see that borne out on this Reddit thread.

People have tried to guess about the connection. You’d assume someone somewhere has figured out all the connections, because the daughter’s phone has been dumped by now:

If it’s not related to the daughter, there was a federal case that both the sheriff and the judge appeared in. The sheriff actually gave a deposition on this case apparently just a few weeks before he shot the judge. It involved a former sheriff’s deputy (so not this sheriff, but a guy who worked for him) getting female inmates to have sex with him in this judge’s chambers, because there were apparently no cameras.

I don’t entirely understand the “no cameras” argument, because look at the main image for this post — there were cameras somewhere in that judge’s office, methinks.

But maybe the judge was getting in on the female inmate action, or helping the deputy cover it up in exchange for watching, etc.

Maybe that + the sheriff finding his daughter’s phone number was enough to make him snap.

According to this

— you’ve got two things to consider:

  1. In terms of sentencing, Stines pleaded not guilty, but could face the death penalty if convicted.
  2. Stine's and the judge were at a group lunch together before the shooting. The lunch ended between 12 and 12:30pm, purportedly. The shooting was at 2:43pm. So, what happened in those two hours? Well, a detective who happened to be present at that lunch said the judge said to the sheriff, “Maybe we need to meet private in my chambers.”

If I had to guess, the judge was sleeping with the sheriff’s daughter, and that specific day was the day everything bubbled up and came to light. But honestly, I’d be happy to be wrong.

Your theory?

I wrote a response to this, a couple paragraphs. They I deleted it. I mean, it's Kentucky and no one is talking. No camera footage anywhere? Cue the banjos.
