Why won’t they just talk to me!

Why won’t they just talk to me!

We’ve been having a lot of problems lately with our home improvements.

When it comes to dealing with tradespeople it has left me wanting to tear my hair out.

  • Not picking up the phone when I call.
  • Not responding to text messages.
  • “Squeezing in” a quick visit before rushing off to be somewhere else.
  • Cancelling visits at last minute.

The whole experience has been frustrating and two months on, my kitchen is still in a state of being half-done.

The Number 1 issue that brings my blood to the boil is the lack of communication – the “not knowing what is happening” is the worst part of the process.

I feel like I never want to have to deal with a trades-person ever again.

I started thinking about poor communication in the workplace and the impact it can have:

  • Being overlooked for opportunities - because your boss it not aware of what you want – it’s your job to tell them.
  • Not being listened to – because you don’t speak up confidently and clearly in meetings.
  • Not known by people in seniority – because you don’t know how to engage with them.
  • Your team not delivering the results you want – because you haven’t clearly communicated what you need from them
  • People feeling stressed and concerned – because of ineffective communications from the corporation about upcoming changes.

And the list could go on for several pages.

If you find yourself in a situation in which you feel ignored, overlooked, misunderstood – take a pause and reflect. Is there anything you could do to improve the way you communicate that could deliver a better outcome?

I have a PDF that demonstrates how to communicate more powerfully – click on this link to access.
