WHY WELLNESS?
MEET ME IN MAINE AT 5PM ON APRIL 25TH.
WHY?
I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE WILD--BUT WELL.
We, Pat and I, created Wild But Well to share what we’ve experienced: to promote health supportive lifestyles and also to make wellness accessible. Sure you can take a week off work, spend $5,000.00 and feel great in a controlled environment. But we’re suggesting that you just take Friday off, and spend that money on books, flights, and concerts instead. On being wild. This decision is not an indictment on the upscale retreat model, a weekend is just more accessible.
Our weekends are designed to introduce and educate people on the benefits of health supporting lifestyles. Sleeping, eating, moving, meditating, learning, and embracing are some of the topics we dive into. We’ve read the books, watched the documentaries, listened to the podcasts, and could neatly package that into a webinar or a book, regurgitating existing information--or we could create a program for you to experience what a health-supporting life feels like. We chose the latter. And the dairy free icing on top is that we give you all those aforementioned resources in the goodie bags, along with our partner products. Have you fucking seen who are our partners are?
The truth is, wellness is cool. Being rested, energized, and alive is cool. Treating your self, your body, and your mind with respect is cool. Thriving, achieving, succeeding, living. This is all positive. These are the outcomes of deciding to live a health supportive lifestyle.
And, at Wild But Well, we know “health supporting†may differ in definition from person to person. But we’re asking you to trust us, to trust our definition. You may know me personally (or Pat, or Casey) or someone who lives this type of lifestyle and have wondered what is fueling them. “How are they always so energized? Happy? Seem to be thriving? Maybe they’re an outlier.â€
OR MAYBE WE INVEST A LOT IN OUR WELLNESS.
My definition of health supported living is this: moving daily, meditating, eating plants, not drinking, sleeping well, and practicing positive relationships with technology and my people. Pat’s definition may be a bit different, as he likes a craft beer and running in the snow. Casey too, with all her education on manifestation and quantum physics. And that is beautiful. We have the same common denominators but we come with nuances. Through my definition of health-supported living, I feel like I’ve developed a superpower.
We, I, want you to feel your superpower. I want you to feel insanely confident, bold, and courageous. I want you to feel well. I want you to thrive. I want you to build a foundation. Your foundation. And me, well I want to live a long damn time and I want you to be there with me, not just existing on this planet but thriving on it.
Let me just get really honest for a second and share a “myth-busterâ€: a health supportive lifestyle doesn’t have to be expensive. In an age where gym memberships cost $250, Meditation apps cost near $100 annually, and smoothies and juices sell for $10, I totally get how some may say that wellness is inaccessible. Expensive. I’m here to say two things. First, fuck that thought process. Just reject it. And two, come to the Wild Weekend and learn how health supportive lifestyles can and will save you money by decreasing your monthly spend.
I earned $861 dollars in January. That would be $10,332 in annual salary. I spent $275.15 on plant-based groceries because I cook for myself and control what I consume. I spent $0 on exercise because I use nature and my body weight. I spent $0 on meditation because I use the free Insight Timer presets and I read books from the public library. I spent $0 on my sleep because my days naturally wind me down (I sleep outside in a tent). I could keep going (and we will get into the economics of health during a panel over the weekend) but hopefully that offers some insight into two things. Number one, marketing teams are really good at selling you shit you don’t need to be healthy. And two, we’re really good at believing that we need that stuff. But I am here to tell you don’t need to spend $30 on a Spin Class and $10 on a Smoothie 4-5 times a week to be healthy. There is more to wellness than that and it’s much more accessible than you think--or that have been told or sold.
As the person hosting a Wild Weekend with a price of $1,000.00, I am aware that I may seem hypocritical. But this is a one-time thing. Come for a weekend. Don’t come back again. We are going to give you the tools you need to not need us anymore. We are looking to share skills that you can take with you so you can truly feel what we feel. And hey, if you do need some extra help after the weekend, just give me a call or an email. I got you.
We invest in our education, we make personal contributions to high growth accounts, we are employed by companies that offer 401k matches, and we protect our money for when we are older. We do so much shit to “invest in our future†but the one thing that will actually deliver us to the days when we can truly enjoy our savings has become an afterthought.
So let’s invest in that vessel. Ourselves.
I’m asking you to do two things. The first is to trust me. If you absolutely hate everything, you only spent 3 days with us and you can return to your current life. It’s 3 days. The second is to join me. Come to Maine with me. Take Friday, April 26th off work and join me for 72 hours of Wild Wellness. Then let’s walk this earth together, thriving for a long time.
And you know what, I’ll get greedy here. Come with your parent. Come with your partner. With your friend, coworker or a stranger. Let’s add to our Moai.
On a final note, let me share with you the transcript of a conversation I had with a family member last week:
“There is not going to be any joy in the “I told you so†moments. I will take no joy in saying, “you should have explored ways to calm your mind and address your mental health†nor will I enjoy saying, “ha - cardiovascular disease? Should have listened to me 30 years ago when I offered to share some recipes.†It’s just going to be shitty. And sad. So at a level just shy of begging, let’s call it urging, take a serious moment, go for a walk and decide how you want to live, how you want to treat your body. Villianize me as a radical if you need to. Or take 3 days in April and call my bluff.â€
See you soon ~ Stay Wild But Well.
Richie.
