Why we are unwilling to acknowledge the good?

Hailing from Pakistan, I have been on the receiving end of a lot of love and affection from the local people in China for the last two years. But the last four months are what really made me re-evaluate everything. It is during chaos when you can really see the truth, and I will tell you what I saw. I saw a country that requested the international community to sit tight instead of sending them all back home immediately, a nation that was hurting but ensured that none of the needs of the international community were ignored, took on criticism and discrimination from all over the world yet did not retaliate, and when some members of the community faced issues rules were made to ensure a peaceful co-living environment.

I have just basic knowledge of politics and international relations so shall refrain from commenting on any of the political aspects, but being in the field of management I can tell you that there is a lot that other countries can learn from China and they should. I’m still in awe of the way china was able to manage itself. The social infrastructure and resource management system is extremely organized. Why are we unwilling to acknowledge the good? Why kind of inferiority complex makes us counter other's laudable traits with nitpicking and conspiracy theories. For a moment, put aside the political differences and just look at how good this country’s management is.

Looking at the treatment that we received during this pandemic is why the Pakistani community from USTB wrote a letter to President Xi Jinping to show our appreciation for the care and support provided to us in this trying period; be it the university or the government, extreme measures were taken to ensure the safety and care of the international community same as the local citizens. A few days ago, we were privileged to receive a response from the honorable President Xi Jinping (which is a huge deal, considering everything) and his response was so uplifting and encouraging, signaling clearer skies and a brighter future that for a moment we truly could forget all that was going on in the world. It actually felt like he was an elder telling us to stay positive, encouraging us to take this time as a lesson to better the Pakistan-China relationship, promote connectivity and build a community with a shared future for humanity.
