Since our inception in 2011, Dovetail Group has been a trusted partner in the maintenance industry. Over the years, we have grown, adapted, and continuously evolved to meet the dynamic needs of our clients. Now, we are excited to share the next chapter in our story: DTG.

A Journey of Growth and Community

In April 2011, www.dtguk.co.uk began operations from humble beginnings in a converted office in a spare room in Coventry. Just a month later, we secured a partnership with Mainstay Residential, purchased our first van, and completed our inaugural reactive maintenance job – repairing a bin store door at Bannerbrook Park, Coventry. These early steps laid the foundation for the thriving organisation we are today.

By June 2011, we were awarded maintenance contracts at Axis Residential Development, providing grounds and reactive maintenance services. This marked the start of our steady growth within the residential management sector, and by 2012/2013, we had expanded our services to include cleaning alongside grounds and reactive maintenance.

In 2013, we relocated to our first operational base at The Woodyard in Foleshill, Coventry. Operating from two office containers and five 20-foot shipping containers, we built a solid infrastructure to support our growing operations.

Milestones of Excellence

Our journey is defined by pivotal achievements that reflect our commitment to quality and innovation:

- 2014: Secured a significant contract for vegetation management along the Coventry Canal and achieved ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2008 certifications, alongside Safe Contractor and NAPIT accreditation.

- 2015: Expanded operations with OCS to oversee canal maintenance across the West Midlands region, employing 30 vegetation operatives daily.

- 2016: Won the Solihull MBC School Cleaning Contract, managing services for eight schools.

- 2017: Became the largest Arb-approved contractor in the UK and relocated to new premises at Arden Eco Park.

- 2018: Achieved Gold in the Solihull Neighbourhoods in Bloom competition and secured a three-year grounds maintenance contract with Midland Heart.

- 2019: Entered the highways sector, partnering with Balfour Beatty for Solihull MBC and Warwickshire Council.

Evolving Through Challenges

Every challenge we’ve faced has spurred innovation and growth. In 2020, we relocated to Chestnuts Farm in Solihull, developing the site into a registered 75,000-tonne waste transfer station. In 2021, we secured a Ministry of Defence (MOD) contract for vegetation management and site clearance across the UK, including a ￡1m fence-line clearing project at Europe’s largest ammunition depot.

By 2023, we undertook a major business restructure, launching five new brands: Dovetail Facilities, Dovetail Environmental, Dovetail Fire, Dovetail Waste, and Dovetail Training. This pivot allowed us to enhance sustainability, streamline operations, and deliver exceptional services.
