Why We Neglect The Fundamentals: 9 Principles For a Balanced Life

Why We Neglect The Fundamentals: 9 Principles For a Balanced Life

Intro

We all know what we should do; however, that does not mean we will do it. You know those annoying statements your parents would say to you when you were a child, such as eat your vegetables, drink your water, get up early, get your clothes ready for school the night before, and make sure you get a good night's sleep, etc. and the list goes on. We grow older, and life hits us fast; then, one day, the light bulb clicks, our parents were correct, and we start exhibiting similar behavior as our boring grandparents, and we coin the term "adulting."

Suppose you believe in living a boring life; congratulations! It sounds unfortunate; anyhow, boring gets the job done. When we think we are going above and beyond because it's more appealing, we follow the latest biohacking method, and you're impeding your success. The fundamentals are not sexy. Crawling, as opposed to walking when you have the ability to run, requires discipline, but what's the rush? That question alone is how we lose track, an ongoing race with time that often results in anxiety, stupid mistakes, and an endless pursuit of status as opposed to being the best version of yourself.

Some basic principles pertaining to human health should be addressed regardless of age, Profession, or marital status.

Rise With the Sun

Master your circadian rhythm, the natural, internal process that regulates the sleep–wake cycle and repeats roughly every 24 hours. When your body is in a rhythm, you will sleep better and have more energy.?

Stay Hydrated

Drink at least half your body weight in ounces per day. So many of us overeat and eat large portions, which is the driving force behind nearly ? of all the people on the planet being overweight or obese. Truth is we often think we are hungry, but we are just thirsty ? of your body is made up of water and needs to replenish frequently.

Movement is Medicine

We have to move! A sedentary lifestyle is worse than smoking and is the root of cancer and various diseases and illnesses. I am not saying to run a 5K or become a bodybuilder. Start by walking daily, doing yoga, setting alarms to avoid staying seated for over 90 minutes, and find three exercises that improve your functional movement skills, keeping you upright.

Food as Fuel

Look at food as fuel; the more energy you expend, the more you need to eat, but we must understand digestion stresses the body, and overeating will make you tired, which is why you should not eat before bed because your body cannot burn the energy will lead to morning fatigue.?

Sleep is Key

Sleep is the most vital component of being in control of our lives. We should aim to sleep eight hours per night, but anywhere between six to eight should have you ready to attack the day.

Break the Fast

As digestion stresses you, examine breakfast as the opportunity to break the fast from the previous nights' dinner, giving you 10+ hours since your last meal. When waking up early, try to complete an activity before eating, a big breakfast can make you sluggish, and you still need to kick off the work day.

Relationships Must Come First

It begins with the relationship with yourself, taking of your health and well-being, displaying gratitude, and constantly seeking ways to improve. Then, after you are in the optimal state of mind, nourish your relationship, whether it's your spouse, children, co-workers, friends, etc. Finally, let the people around you know you care and be supportive. There is nothing more valuable than people; they are like flowers of a garden; water them daily and give them the proper sunlight, and they will be full of life, which is the love we all yearn for.

Lights Out Early

When we are staying up two-three hours after dinner, there's only so much to be achieved, and we are better off going to bed earlier and getting ahead of the next day as opposed to biting off more than we can chew as the day concludes.

Leave Work at Work

Nobody should work more than eight hours because aspects of your life will get thrown out of whack, compromising your health and, ultimately, your performance. So get to work early, work hard, and stay organized, but when it's over… IT'S OVER.?

The System (Conclusion)

No two people have the same life, and there is no absolute way to do things. We lose track in an ongoing rat race of trying to stay ahead. As opposed to trying to make more money to buy time, we perpetuate the same issues. Nevertheless, there are fundamental principles that cannot be neglected. We all have the same 24 hours; if we break it into threes, dividing eight hours for work, eight hours for sleep, and eight hours for personal time for relationships, that is the feasible framework to live a balanced, sustainable life.
