Why We Need Smart Hybrid Light?
How to choose the right security camera for different lighting conditions? This has always been a challenging job. In the first of our four-article series on ‘Smart Hybrid Light’, we will explore the significance of smart hybrid lighting, its necessity, and the capabilities it offers.
Smart Hybrid Light: a perfect blend
‘Smart Hybrid Light’ means that one camera integrates two supplemental lights of IR light and white light, which offers 3 supplemental lighting modes. You can use it as an infrared camera with IR mode, a ColorVu camera with white light mode, or a smart camera that automatically switches between the two lights, which incorporates Motion Detection 2.0 or perimeter protection. This technology enables the camera to capture black & white images with IR light when there is no person or vehicle present. Simultaneously, it seamlessly transitions to ‘true’ color images utilizing the white light as soon as individuals or vehicles enter the frame. Additionally, the camera can be accompanied by sound and light alarms, enhancing its overall security capabilities.?
The dilemma of concealment and color image
The introduction of the ‘Smart Hybrid Light’ addresses several concerns associated with the limitation of a single supplemental light with conventional IR cameras and white light cameras. When we enjoy the good concealment of IR cameras, they often lack color information. On the other hand, when we enjoy the detailed color images even in low-light environments with white light cameras, they may inadvertently cause light pollution and draw attention due to the need for continuous white light illumination. Moreover, in specific indoor settings like restaurants, keeping the white light on during the night may be impractical.

A smarter solution for diverse security needs
The development of the ‘Smart Hybrid Light’ aims to resolve these pain points by providing an ideal solution that combines efficient concealment with sharply-focused black & white image capture when no person or vehicle is detected. It automatically switches to record ‘true’ color information when individuals or vehicles are present, offering users a much smarter choice for their diverse security needs
In the next article of this series, we will delve into how the smart functionalities of motion detection and automatic IR/white light switch are ‘visualized’ to users.
