Why we need a ritual in times of uncertainty!

To me, ritual meant being religious- doing prayers, chanting, lighting a lamp on everyday basis. Until I discovered that any series of activities done at a certain time of the day is a RITUAL.
No doubt habits are important, but rituals are more powerful as they combine multiple habits, follow a system and emotionally connects us with WHY we are doing WHAT we are doing. They connect us to something larger than ourselves. There is intention, energy and commitment behind it.
For me, my morning ritual is the most sacred and powerful because it helps me to create connection, awareness and devotion; making me confident each day about my present and future.
This is how it looks like:
My alarm rings (I willingly keep my phone far away so that i have to get up to put it off ); first thing is drink water until my stomach is full; yes! without brushing my teeth (Ushapan in Ayurveda), right after fresh up I head straight for a cold bath (increases circulation and open up sore muscles) wearing clean fresh clothes (impacts our confidence and behavior).
Going to by backyard, I do Lymphasizing (rebounding) for 5 mins (flush out toxins, bacteria, dead cells and other waste from the body and helps create balance & coordination)
Starting with my Energization exercise for 20 mins (internal muscles activation work)
Next comes Mental Strength & Hygiene - brain activation, cleaning and recreating exercises invoked through the medium of breath, sound and vibrations for 20 mins (helps to synergize our pranic flows, makes us balanced and centric and move our energies inward and upward, instead of flowing downward and outward)- If you want to learn these you can join me in my upcoming program.
The above brings me to an alpha meditative state and thereby it leads to recreation of the being for 10 mins (connecting to my future self my goals and aspiration)
and the last bit is Shavasana for 5 mins, which is favorite of many including me :) (for assimilation).
From here, my day starts with planning my work and working out my plan.
After many hit and trials and trying numerous exercises and tools, I have capsuled together these very effective series of activities into a fixed time frame which is a combination of neuroscience tools and ancient yogic practices. I have observed a visible change in my presence with/without doing the ritual. I enter a productive day (instead of a sluggish one), having a powerful ripple effect on my mood, happiness and focus. I find myself achieving more in a day, feeling organized, reacting less (sp to children since they are our easiest target) and in a positive attitude most of the time.
Since it was working so well for me, I introduced the Mental Strength & Hygiene to the clients I was closely working with. To which they backed up their personal experience in daily routine as:
- a higher elevated state change every time after practice.
- being less reactive and more patient.
- their focus & concentration increase.
- sharpened their decision making.
- more stress free & relaxed.
No wonder such magnificent results are produced since these practices are well researched, millennials old & tried and tested for generations and hence give sure shot results.
I share this article with the intent to open up some ideas which you might want to include in your lifestyle and also most importantly start creating rituals for your growth and wellbeing.
You may reach out to me to learn any of these practices and be on the drivers seat of your life & control your life instead of it controlling you.
Health, happiness and growth,
