Why we need a resilient small business community

I've just got back from an amazing and challenging few days. The original plan was to speak at an #IWD conference in Malaga for the lovely CostaWomen. As we arrived the venues were closed due to coronavirus. It was impossible to change our flights home so we settled down and decided to deliver what we promised - but do it virtually.

It was an amazing experience to see a small team pull together and literally overnight take a conference and put it online. The food was donated to a local homeless charity - so nothing went to waste.

Many speakers were delivering virtually for the first time - and it was fascinating to see how people adapted to something entirely unexpected. My after-dinner talk was obviously impractical as there was no dinner! So it turned into an impromptu talk on how important it is we support small businesses in these difficult times.
