Why we judge others?

Why we judge others?

We often hear others saying- "Don't judge me- Understand me for who I am". In other words, one perceives judgement as a false notion or wrong impression about reality. If there is just one reality, why do we countenance contrary points of view? One incident elicits multiple points of view. A single fact has numerous interpretations. Some of the variations are close enough to each other, but surprisingly, many are wildly dissonant. The discrepancy is the result of both commission and omission. Ommission, because we miss out some aspects of reality- maybe we don't pay attention to those aspects that do not engage us or miss out because of our faculty's limitations. Errors of commission are however different. They emanate because as a species, we view this world with various filters. The emergence of various fringe theories(QANon, 9/1/1 conspiracies) is a testimonial to enormous distortion of reality that exists in our mind.

The distortion exists because we have allowed our mind to run riot and take over our entire existence. We measure truth not by our awareness and inner sensibilities but based on our minds' beliefs and penchant. These proclivities, in turn, are based on the premises of yore. Which essentially means that we have constructed a colossal edifice on shaky foundations. The tower obfuscates our senses and our view of reality. As a result, we either misjudge based on our beliefs or misconstrue reality. Perceiving truth requires us to be limpid within ourselves. And that calls for purging all the demons which have been feasting on us since eternity.

We don't pay attention to those aspects that do not engage us or miss out because of our faculty's limitations- I wish we paid attention to this aspect a lot more, so we were more inclusive in our approaches. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Ravi Ramamurthy
