Having recently shared that we've joined the Better Business Act I thought it worth expanding our thoughts on why we feel this is such a significant movement to be part of and importantly, why you should too!
Research conducted by Better Business Act shows that UK voters and consumers want businesses to do better. Three quarters of the UK public think businesses have a responsibility to protect the environment and the majority favour brands that do good in the world.
76% in the UK want businesses to be legally responsible for their impact.
This is exactly what the Better Business Act aims to achieve. With over 650 businesses (including ourselves) signed up to this coalition, we are calling on the government to make meaningful and sustainable changes to the Companies Act for a cleaner, greener and better future for us all.
Leader Executive has now joined the Better Business Act.... for a cleaner, greener and fairer future.?
Here’s a bit more information about the act and the positive change it’s looking to bring about:
The Better Business Act will transform the way we do business, so that every single company in the UK, whether big or small, takes ownership of its social and environmental impact by balancing people, profit and planet at the heart of their purpose and the responsibility of their directors.?

The climate emergency and social inequality are profound and pressing problems, thrown into sharp relief by the COVID-19 crisis. These can only be solved by harnessing the enormous potential of entrepreneurs, innovation and enterprise. But for the past half-century, business has become separated from the communities it needs to serve. The failure to align the interests of shareholders with those of wider society and the environment has contributed to a set of enormous challenges that threaten peoples’ health, wealth and the natural world.
The best way to do this is to change the law that governs how businesses act. The Better Business Act is a simple legislative solution: By amending Section 172 of the Companies Act they use existing legal principles to empower directors to consider all stakeholders. It can no longer be a choice to align the long-term interests of people, planet and profit. Businesses across the UK have proven this as a model for sustainable growth that drives innovation and entrepreneurship.
This campaign has been steadily gaining traction, with hundreds of UK businesses now signed up to this coalition. With the right level of business support, the BBA aim to move this onto the next phase by presenting to the government at Westminster.
I am so proud to be joining a strong force of businesses that are looking to create a better future for us all. It is only through collective campaigning can we make positive changes for long-lasting impact.?
If you’re a business owner or an integral part of a business’ decision-making process, I highly encourage you to join this coalition today. It is easily one of the best decisions our business has made recently, and I urge you all to take a step towards better business too.
Together, we will ask for the government’s leadership to help deliver this new contract between business and society.
