Why we invested in Andor

The creator economy has been on the rise, leading to the rise of micro-entrepreneurship. In the US alone, influencer marketing spends touched US$ 10 billion, of which 10% or US$ 1 billion came from Instagram alone.

Think about how many nano or micro influencers, you now follow on different social media platforms vs 5 years ago. Today, there are 3 times the number of micro influencers used by brands than in 2016. With this burgeoning market dynamic, came the need for easy to use and web graphics tools.

Enter, AndOR Communications. They are building the next generation of content creation tools and community for digital creators.

What does Andor do?

Andor provides creators with a suite of products for photo, graphics and video editing. Their flagship product has 44 million downloads on the app store and 2.2 mn on iOS with an average rating of 4.7

Existing visual content creation tools are insufficient from a quality and user experience standpoint, especially for new age digital content creators. Adobe has been targeting professional creator on desktop, with minimal offerings for web and mobile - the fastest growing mediums for digital creators. Canva has been thriving on communicators market.

Andor's solutions serve creators and communicators alike, with a mobile, web first approach. Andor is harnessing the power of improved browser tech with accelerated graphics support as a cross platform saas solution.

Why we like Andor?

  1. Founder Market Fit:?During their stints at Times Internet together, the founding team had successfully architectures and marketed all of Times' mobile initiatives - The TOI App, The ET App, IndiaTimes Shopping App and Gaana App on both Android and iOS
  2. Huge Growing Market:?The Influencer Market alone is growing at breakneck speed. Andors offerings, made in the India for the global audience (US, Europe, SEA), makes fo a remarkable arbitrage opportunity in a fast growing, emerging market.
  3. Excellent Risk-Reward Opportunity: Having built out their core team, reflected significant traction in a fast growing, high demand market, we were confident the risk -reward was in our favour. Predictable revenues, a large user base (~50mn Ios+ Android downloads for their flagship product) and low costs base, made for a promising investment opportunity.

?? The Disruptors Capital Score

We use a proprietary transparent algorithm to score all our investments. It contains our investment case, along with a detailed breakdown of the scoring along with our commentary on 4 main aspects-

???????????? The Management Factor -

Score :?45/ 50

?? The Opportunity Factor -

Score : 23.5/ 30

?? The Deal Factor -

Score : 8/ 10

??The Exit Factor -

Score : 7.5/ 10

?? Final Score: 84/100

In conclusion, we loved the founders vision and execution to build for the next generation. Moreover, the ability to build in India, and serve a global audience comes from deep understanding of consumer preferences. We saw all that and more with Sharad and his team, and decided to ride his coat tails.
