Why We Are Fully Remote

With the return-to-office trend causing anxiety and stress we want to share why we’ve stayed remote.

Better Work/Life Balance

Time is invaluable and working from home gives you exactly that. With no commute, there is more available time to get your morning routine right, make that extra cup of coffee or even throw a load of laundry in. We strive to give our team flexibility to control their work schedules. Some of us are early birds who work 7 am-3 pm and others like the more standard 9-5 pm. It depends on what works best for you. Bonus: your pets love it!

Long before the pandemic forced us to work from home, we implemented EBT - extra balance time. This is time worked into your day for whatever brings you the most benefit and balance. For our team, it often means being active, picking up our kids at school or simply unplugging for 30-60 minutes to read a book and get centered.?

Working from home does not mean slacking off. Our team has a variety of checks and balances for this, largely for accountability across the organization. We love Slack’s status tool to update others on where we are and we’re diligent about using the ‘out of office’ and ‘focus time’ functions on Google Calendar.? WFH enables our team to complete their work to the best of their abilities and their maximum potential.

Less Commute Stress

Time spent commuting is wasted time, even if you’re listening to your favourite podcast. You aren’t being productive while stuck in Edmonton traffic. Clients aren’t getting what they need, tasks aren’t being completed and most importantly - your cortisol levels increase because of the stress and anxiety of having to drive or transit for so long.?

Working remotely allows our team to determine how early or how late they want to start their day. Need to get a quick workout before your day starts? Go ahead. Need to sleep in a little extra on Mondays? Go for it!

For the most part, we stick to our schedules reliably. By having the flexibility and the joy of no-commute, our day starts with a 10/10 attitude, ready to tackle whatever comes and their productivity is increased.

Increased Productivity & Performance

As you would have read somewhere else on LinkedIn, Adster Creative recently hit our 2024 goals and some of our 2025 goals already.?

We have hard-hitting, specific goals that our team has been able to achieve from the comfort of their home. By allowing our team members to embrace their uniqueness, and to work at their own pace, we are tapping into the best part of their performance. We remove the added stressors of a physical office and we let them explore what their best looks like from wherever location in their house makes them happy.

Saving money

?Working from home likely saves you money. You’re saving by:

• Less gas for a commute
• Less car maintenance fees and/or transit costs
• Less temptation to eat out
• Less need for professional clothing (well, maybe you need some nice tops to go with your joggers)
• Possibly less childcare costs?

According to FlexJobs, the average person working from home can save thousands of dollars a year by working remotely.?

For anyone who still chooses to work from an office, we still have our trust office in South Edmonton. Anyone can work there whenever they like, and we use it for team meetings from time to time.?

Customizable Office

Speaking from experience, having the ability to choose your chair, your desk mat, your clickiest keyboard and as many (or as few) monitors as you want is truly a blessing. No more having to use the same chair as everyone else.

At home, whether an introvert or an extrovert, your office is yours to decorate, celebrate, and personalize. This helps to reduce anxiety, increase happiness and be comfortable. Some of us love the laptop life that allows us to sit outside or on the couch. Others have spent time constructing their office just for them. Whatever works, works!?
