Actually, it's the conventional concept of make and break but today we need to level-up our playing field by developing resources in-house.... this might be costly in the short-term but highly beneficial in the long-term both financially and strategically...
In a nutshell, invest in your organization's insurance policy.
We need to grow out of the horse-and-buggy concept in hunting for a plug & play resource... rather we should look for candidates with high learning agility and a multi-purposeful (wearing different hats) attitude towards work...
As a matter of fact, when in testing waters the vital attribute needed to strategize is "flexibility" for devising a learning and growth culture in an organization...
Last but not the least, advisably organizations should write their strategy on the front door of their office...
To remind (re-enforcements) current teams what they should be working for; and
Let potential candidates know (beforehand) what they would be working for if they tie the knot with this entity;
At least this would save the hassle of exit interviews and bring down the attrition rate, automatically raising the bar for Employee Engagement, which indeed is the need of time, as well...
Remember, to pace up the ship, all sails should be adjusted to point in the same direction... at the end of the day its a team effort, indeed.
