Why We Created IO Imagery

For decades, the remote sensing industry has operated under a frustrating reality: the long timelines for sourcing and processing high-resolution imagery which could take six months or longer. This delay created ripple effects across industries. Time-sensitive projects were postponed, critical decisions were delayed, and opportunities to act on vital information were lost. The industry’s inefficiencies became the status quo, and customers were left to accept the unacceptable.?

At IO Aerospace, we saw the need for change. With over two decades of combined experience in airborne remote sensing, mapping 35 countries and more than 16 million kilometers of terrain, we saw these gaps firsthand. Customers needed high-resolution imagery - not just in months but often in days - to respond to emerging challenges, from environmental monitoring to infrastructure development. We knew there had to be a better way.?

IO Imagery is built on the principle that premium imagery should be accessible quickly, without compromising quality. To achieve this, we paired two powerful tools: a modified jet and a custom high-resolution optical camera. This combination allows us to collect data with unmatched quality in record time.?

Our jet, a modified Learjet 35, was designed to optimize high-altitude imaging missions. Equipped with advanced payload bays and specialized flight modifications, it’s tailored to meet the diverse needs of modern remote sensing. Complementing the jet is our proprietary high-resolution camera, capable of capturing imagery with 10 cm detail. Together, they form an acquisition system that’s incredibly fast and adaptable to a variety of mission requirements.?
