Why we are corrupt…
Gradually corruption is spreading into our different daily practices and sorry to say that we are establishing ourselves as a corrupt nation. A few months back Transparency International announced the “Corruption perceptions index 2016”, which shows that we are at the 79th position out of 176 countries. Scandinavian countries along with some other countries having better governance models like New Zealand, Germany, Canada, and Singapore Ranked higher in the Index. Somalia, South Sudan, North Korea, Syria, and Yemen ranked as the bottom five countries.
When we look up the Index we can easily say that the people of top-ranked countries are more honest than the others, is this true? The basic instincts of all groups of animals are the same then how humans behave differently in different political spheres. The people living in countries having better governance models feel much more secure about their future rather than others, that’s why they do not tend to accumulate their assets. On the other hand, in bottom-ranked countries, people do not have social security or less social security like Employment, Healthcare, Education, etc. And because of this, they want to freeze their wealth overnight, and to achieve this, they put all morals aside.

As far as our country is concerned, the government collects taxes, to provide all the citizens with social and economic security and infrastructure to live in. We pay Direct Taxes for socio-economic parity among citizens and Indirect Taxes for the development and maintenance of infrastructure but despite all the efforts the gap between rich and poor are widening with each passing day and that is a big cause that crime and corruption are growing in our nation.
If we can provide Employment, Healthcare Services, and Education to all our citizens only then we can expect High Moral Values from our citizens, and as an outcome of this corruption and crime will come down gradually. Merely political or spiritual preaching about “Idealism” won’t work, think about it……
