Why Waste Time On Marketing If You Can't Sell?

Last week, I met a coach who was spending a lot of time creating social media posts. After asking some questions, I realized that this coach had not sold any programs. So why were they wasting time creating a lot of social media posts?
I recently met another business owner, who was spending a lot of money on lead generation. After asking some questions, I discovered that this business owner cannot sell. What is the point of having a thousand leads if you can’t sell?
I see this year after year with people who are attending networking meetings. They're going from one meeting to another, and it's always the organizers fault that they are not getting business. The meetings weren't big enough, they say. The room didn't have exactly the right kind of person in them, they say.?
That room is never going to be “right” enough, because the real problem is they can't sell. When a person is a professional at selling, it doesn't matter how many people are in the room. It doesn't matter how big the room is. It doesn't matter if they got leads from a Facebook group or an ad. When a professional salesperson gets a lead, they book an appointment and they do a sales presentation. They run the numbers of activity, and they sell.
If their lead purchases, they onboard their new client. If their lead does not purchase, they put them into their follow up process. They use scripts. They use processes. They use the same ones over and over again because they work. They know what works because they have spent many hours figuring that out. They know how to sell. They do it over and over.
If we're trying to get a pile of leads and we've had all kinds of lead generators that bring us leads and we're still not getting sales, then the problem is not the lead generators. The problem is, we suck at selling.

And none of the other problems that we have in business are going to go away until we fix that problem.
Why are we so eager to waste money and time on so many things and avoid the real problem? Why are we buying another course on coaching? Why are we buying another tool? Why are we investing in AI?
Usually it is because we are uncomfortable with selling. So we spend all day, thinking about what we're going to post on social media so we can avoid the real issue. We stay so busy being busy that we never get busy with having a sale.?
If you want to get serious about making sales, then it is time to take a sales course.?
Once we know how to sell, then our business will prosper. We will go from closing one out of ten appointments to one out of five, and then one out of four. As we get better at selling, we will need to spend less time at selling because we can sell more in fewer appointments.?
